Hi @IainJammyboy I hear that you felt that you had a recent episode involving voices and hallucinations. I can imagine how scary that must be for you to go through. I know you mentioned about it possibly being because of exam stress in some way. Hallucinations and hearing voices can be especially scary even where an episode comes out of the blue. I personally haven't got much experience of coping strategies that could work. However, one thing that could possibly work is telling yourself that the voices and hallucinations aren't real and rather are psychological based. Sometimes the mind likes to play tricks on us and being able to tell yourself that these thoughts aren't real and that you are not your thoughts can help a bit. I would also say that if the hallucinations and voices got worse over time, it may be best to seek out advice from your local GP and they can offer more support and advice on what to do. I'm always here too if you want to talk more about how you are feeling at the moment.
Sending hugs,
Amy22
I just wanted to drop by to check in and ask how you're feeling this morning? It sounds like it must have been really scary for you to have heard those voices telling you to kill yourself. We're absolutely here for you if you'd like to talk about those feelings in more detail.
Have you heard any more voices since this episode, Iain? How safe are you feeling at the moment? We really care about you here and your safety matters to us.
I also wanted to share with you a few resources that might be helpful to you if you'd like to seek some further, more specialised support. First up, Mind have a list of support services on their website for those who are hearing voices that might be useful for you to check out: https://www.mind.org.uk/information-support/types-of-mental-health-problems/hearing-voices/useful-contacts/.
Lastly, I wanted to share the details of some organisations who you can contact in the moment if you start hearing those voices again or if you feel as though you have thoughts about taking your life:
You've been really brave to share all of this with us, Iain, and we really appreciate your trust.
Take care and speak soon,
Harry
Dealing with surreal experiences like this can be quite frightening but the sooner you address it the better and I'm so glad that you've already taken the first steps.
