@Xee I can definitely relate to losing my stylus! I had quite a few styli over my time of having a DS haha :) Also loved the Mario games - Mario Kart and Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games were top picks. My personal favourite was the Pokemon series, especially Pokemon Pearl - I'm still a huge Pokemon fan now, lost track of how many Pokemon DS games I played (and how many hours I invested in them)!

@Amy22 ah okay, you're streets ahead of me! I think I'm only level 4 mining, so still yet to spend much time with a lot of the other characters. It's really cool that they've got a proper NPC interaction system, adds a nice social element to the game rather than just farming and mining all day :)

@ebyrne556 Haha that's awesome - sheer coincidence, but I found some of my old DS photos just a couple days back as well! They're awful quality, but as a kid it was really exciting to have my own camera. Sonic Rush actually happens to be the very first game I ever played on DS, what a throwback!

@Mike that's awesome! Have you played much of the Halo franchise? Used to play Combat Evolved years ago with friends, was good times! Prey sounds cool, what's it about?

I also love the NPC interactions as eventually you can choose to have a spouse which is very cute, plus also animals which I think is the best thing. My favourite part is restoring the community centre as there are lots of surprises and rewards awaiting in there. Ah your going to love it as the game goes on.

Super late to the party on this but my day-to-day game at the moment is Halo Infinite. It's not the best but it scratches the itch in between better games. 😅

Some of the best and most memorable games I've played recently though: Cyberpunk 2077, Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice, Detroit: Become Human, Gris.

I bought Prey a while ago and I've been desperately meaning to get round to playing it, because it looks fantastic, but I've just had other priorities to focus on.

Never had a DS or anything like that - was always more of a console gamer!

Detroit: Become Human is on my list of games to play at some point. I really love the narrative of it all. I watch a lot of YouTube play throughs. I got to say I think I'm a fan of Connor.

You're not late @Mike the party is still going as you can see :)

I tried halo infinite but my laptop had a hard time running it lol. And since I have a playstation I couldn't really play it on console. I'd say its a decently fun game, maybe I'd play it more if it was more accessible, then I could play it with my brother since I don't really like playing online multiplayer games by myself.

Idk why but that sounds kinda rude to me haha. I'd classify the DS as a console too, a handheld console to be precise ;)

Also I'm curious to see, has anyone here heard of the game called Omori? I wouldn't recommend it unless your mental health can handle it haha

Ah, a fellow Combat Evolved veteran! I played it when it first came out and I've been a Halo nut ever since. Amazing how well it still stands up today, though some of the missions are a slog. Did you play any more games in the series? Interested in your fav if you have.

Prey is basically a sci-fi FPS with RPG and open world elements. It's set in an alternative future where humans go into space much earlier than they did in real life, building space stations and manned satellites orbiting the moon and stuff. You wake up on a space station after an alien encounter. It's a bit jumpy and a bit tense/scary, but nothing too major. Made by Bethesda if you've played any of their other games. I'll report back when I've played more! haha

Connor is a very compelling character, played by a great actor too! He even streams on Twitch with his wife sometimes - Brian DeChart. I'd highly recommend playing it through yourself - it's amazing how invested it makes you in every single story. Game is a TRIP.

Totally hear this, Halo is always more fun with friends. It is decently fun and I've put a lot of hours into it, but it is struggling a bit for content at the mo. I don't know if you know much about the launch but it was a bit of a disaster, though they're slowly getting the game where it should be. In any case though, it's a fun shooter if you don't ask too much from it. :)

Did you play the campaign?

Nope, I haven't played the campaign. I did consider it though for quite some time, I love the idea of it being open world. I just don't think I wanted to spend so much money on a genre that I'm unfamiliar with especially without playing any of the previous games. (That's not mentioning that my laptop would still have trouble handling it haha).
Would you say you enjoyed the campaign? I assume you played it.

I did get the master chief collection like a year ago and through some really complicated mods I've managed to get split screen to work for the campaigns which I thought was awesome. So I've played with my brother for like a day and he said it was boring, so that's real unfortunate
I really liked it, it was something else compared to all the newer games. It felt nostalgic even though I've never played it before lol.
Hoping to get back to playing it again sometime, but I have way too many games on my backlog and not a lot of time on my hands so yea.

Edit: @Mike I too forget to tag people sometimes ;)

I have heard of Omori, I got a friend who has played it. I personally haven't played it but it looks interesting. Is it kind of like a horror game?.

@Amy22 Well... if you're thinking about playing it then I don't want to say too much but yea, its a psychological horror.
This is a game that I haven't played but watched someone else play instead. I'm just not a fan of the rpg turn-based gameplay tbh. But I like to call this my favourite game that I never played!
You mentioned you like psychology and analysing different characters so I feel like you'd love this game. That is if you don't mind losing sleep for the next couple months

@Amy22 I hope so! I'm sure I'll have to come to you for advice at some point :)

@Mike CE was the only Halo I ever played (on PC), I was actually a Playstation kid so we never had the Halo games come our way. CoD became the shooter of choice afterwards, especially when I was introduced to the world of Zombies mode!

@AislingDM is that Mario Kart Tour? I used to play it quite a bit when it came out and it was a lot of fun! Though once I learned that it was just CPUs and not actually other players, the wins became a little less meaningful as time went on haha. Still, a very fun game if people haven't tried it! :)

That is such a hard question - I've always loved halo reach as a kid, and then spent hundreds of hours in halo 5, I still love playing it but the competitiveness really does get me so angry sometimes lol. Right now though I'm on a horror game marathon so I've been trying a bunch in virtual reality - I've tried the walking dead vr, five nights at Freddy's vr, phasmaphobia, they're all a wee bit scary for around the first hour but then it just feels incredibly boring - I don't know if it's just me 😂😂

@IainJammyboy that's an interesting point. I feel like that's kind of normal with horror games (although I haven't played many myself). It could be that when playing it for the first time it can feel new and uncertain which makes it so scary, but once you spend some time with it you get used to the mechanics and what the game is capable of doing and what not. Basically you know what to expect.
That's just my thought.

@JJLemon18 that's a great point - I think that's why games like alien isolation do really really well, the atmosphere is so tense throughout the game, but again it may be over a certain amount of time it's not scary anymore. But I will say the best games are the story driven horror games that you can only play once, especially with huge jump scares it makes me shit myself
• JJLemon18JJLemon18 Community Champion Posts: 2,082 Boards Champion
@IainJammyboy I hate jumpscares xD I'm a scaredy cat lol. My favourite 'horror' game I played is little nightmares (both 1 and 2). There are barely any jumpscares but they build the atmosphere so well, its so chilling.

Aw yes horror games are such a classic. I find I get too scared easily to play them though. However, I do love my escape horror games. I get you sometimes as if you played horror games before they can become less scary and terrifying over time. I find it can be because of jump scares as well if they are over done. Apparently they are making a Five Nights at Freddy's film soon.

@Amy22 yea I heard of it, looks pretty cool. Maybe I'd be interested if I played a single fnaf game in my life xD

And I agree, jumpscares seem to often be over done.
I've played this game called The Complex: Found Footage (its a backrooms game. I love the concept of the backrooms!) and its so creepy to me...
even though there are totally no jumpscares
I really recommend anyone to try this game, its definitely an 'experience'. (Its free on steam and is very short so if you're interested then why not)

A backroom game sounds awesome. I know that this isn't related to gaming but there is a backroom playlist on Spotify which could be a good companion to the game :).

I wouldn't recommend listening to any music while playing this game, its supposed to be like a 'backroom simulator' and so it has no background music, just a lot of ambient sounds. I feel like any sort of music would kill the vibe you know.

Yea, it was a delight to play. Although its pretty short which is one downside of it imo, I kinda expected more for the price... I'm not complaining! =)

I think its got pop music or something I'll try to find the playlist lol. Here it is :).

I know that tiktok and insta have been doing a lot of backrooms stuff lately which is cool. I like the meme where your in the backrooms and then the Better Call Saul theme tune plays and Better Call Saul the man himself chases you  .

Yeah I found that some of the songs were pop and I found that maybe pop isn't very fitting for the backrooms but I guess anything goes in the backrooms  (spam block again lol 😂)

OMG me too @Azziman !! However, because I'm pretty bad at the game half the time I don't even come in first, so maybe that's embarrassing in and of itself!! Hoping the game is maybe helping my dexterity or attention-focus or something haahha. xx

<img src="https://insomniac.games/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/sunset_overdrive_e3_amusement.jpg" alt="Sunset Overdrive | Insomniac Games"/>rqrdwslinkx1.png

Sunset Overdrive is on my list of games to play one day. I wish they could release a version of it on the switch but I know the graphics might be too much for the switch lol. Sunset Overdrive has a good soundtrack and it is literally my aesthetic 4 life!

(Just found this pic on google images and I love it
