What’s your positive of the year ?

Hey everyone :)

I recognise this period of reflection between Christmas and new year can be difficult, we often focus on all the bad things that have happened. So I thought maybe we could all write 1 positive thing that has happened this year , no matter how big or small , silly or serious . I just thought it would be nice to reflect as a community :)

For me my positive was During my last nursing placement I got feedback from a parent who was shocked to learn I was only 1st year as they thought I was a 3rd year - A lovely card thanking me for looking after them was left for me and that really made me smile
Sometimes all you need is one person to believe in you , for you to begin to believe in yourself.

I love this thread @Millie2787, I can't wait to see what everyones positives are.

Thats a really lovely positive Millie, I'm sure you made a massive difference to that parent.

I'm going to say my positive is becoming a mod on here and being able to support the community.

@Millie2787 I absolutely love this thread idea! Thank you so much for this <3

Hearing your positive was lovely, you get a really heart-warming feeling after knowing that you've made a difference to someone

Overall, I think this year went really well for me, and since I've been practicing gratitude, as I reflect, I see a lot of positives. But if I were to mention one, it would be that I managed to get a psychology undergraduate placement - I'll become a research assistant for my uni next year, investigating attentional processes in daily life, such as mind wandering and distraction! It's a very exciting opportunity and I'm really proud of myself for achieving this.

This meant a lot to me because I realised earlier on this year that I didn't have any specific goals - not that having no goals is bad at all, I just personally didn't like this. I wanted motivation, I wanted to work hard for something. And I finally found something to work hard for. And I managed to achieve it.

Additionally, I faced some job rejections, so securing this placement gave me a huge morale and confidence boost, and demonstrated that I am capable of achieving my goals.

This was really long, so to whoever read this, thanks for reading hahah.

Overall for me the start of the year was a bit tough because my dad was in hospital but he is home now and is way better now. I would say that one of my positives was being offered work experience on a short film this year as a runner and I loved doing it. I'm looking forward to 2023 and what it will bring.

I love this post @Millie2787 thank you so much for suggesting it- I think my positive is making more time for myself, whether it is exercising, singing or just reading a book- taking time each day and doing something for me- I used to think it was selfish, but I now know it's essential for me. I shall be trying to make sure I do it even more in 2023!

Although I thought that I wouldn't even pass Maths and English, I passed all of my GCSE exams. I even got a grade 6 in Maths. Now I'm in sixth form studying the subjects that I enjoy.

@Millie2787 this is a great idea, thank you for suggesting it. My highlight for the year would be celebrating my nan's 90th birthday with her and my family. She was ill but we managed to wheel her out into the garden for a BBQ!

@Millie2787 what a wonderful idea for a board

I'd say my highlight would be graduating from university in the summer with my psychology degree
(closely followed by joining the Mix and supporting you all on the boards as best I can).

Also want to say congrats to everyone for their positives and for simply getting through this year - hope 2023 treats you all kindly
