Grab your hats and tiny hammers - Elves wanted!

Every year, around this time, we run an Elves event. :)

As a lot of you know, this can be a tough time of year. We tend to spend more time with family (whether we want to or not), it can be lonely when friends are busy and we can't travel easily, money gets stressful, disordered eating can be more challenging, it's dark and bloody cold, and the list goes on. The usual moderation teams are also around a bit less, so we need a bit of backup...

For this reason, we ask those who can to become an Elf. Elves keep the community alive over the Winter holidays, making sure the community remains a safe and supportive place for everyone. Every post, reaction, and report is even more important than usual to keeping this place running.

Elf duties can include any of the following... shuffles papers
  • Reporting concerning posts
  • Welcoming new members
  • Uploading a Christmas avatar
  • Replying to posts to support others (especially ones that haven't been replied to)
  • Starting threads to get people chatting
  • Reacting to posts to show the community you're around

The Mix staff will also be getting involved with this. Some of our staff you usually don't see (e.g. our fundraising team, and even our CEO) will be putting their Elf hats on to help out. :)

If you'd like to join the Elves - and to get your limited edition badge - comment below!

And finally, if you don't want to commit to being an Elf but you're online over the holidays, we see and appreciate you. :) We'll keep a badge reserved if you decide you want one. <3

    Awesome idea, I'd like to be an elf please, as it sounds like a really good opportunity to spread a bit of Christmas cheer. :) It's my first time along with Amy22, so it will be an experience. :3

    Elf duties also include tracking Santa on Christmas Eve. That is a very important one that needs to be included on here.

    @Mike I wonder if the increase in posts and usage coincides with the fact The Mix is often advertised on the coping over Christmas/helplines open over Christmas posts that do appear on social media .
    Sometimes all you need is one person to believe in you , for you to begin to believe in yourself.
