I feel guilty

Kate_20Kate_20 Posts: 653 Incredible Poster
Some people kindly invited me into a group and I unfortunately killed the atmosphere of the group. People are no longer talking frequently in that group after I sent my messages. I already asked the administrators and they said that the question was allowed in that group. But I cannot stop feeling guilty.

Hi @Kate_20 I’m sorry to hear you are feeling guilty because of this. If you checked that the question you asked was allowed, can I ask why you are feeling like you did something wrong? Has anyone told you that you did? Sending you hugs 💜

    Hi @Kate_20

As @Lucy307 said, it seems you have not done anything wrong. If these people invited you into the group I am sure that they are more than happy for you to be there. Although, I do empathise with you as group situations can be difficult especially if it is new. I still over think things I do or say in groups with friends I have known for years, I think it is a normal response as we want these people to like us. There is no need to feel guilty and I know it is easier said than done but try not to put pressure on yourself, you have been welcomed into a friendly group of people :)

    hope this helps <3

@Kate_20 first of all, well done for socialising with others, I know it’s been really difficult for you! I’m really sorry that your brain is honing in on the negative aspects of this conversation. I feel like as they’ve invited you, they understand and I feel like maybe it’s just your brain using it’s negativity bias to find things to prove the negative thoughts you have about yourself. I am sure they were all so happy and grateful for you being there and contributing to the group.

I know it can be really difficult to see that when your brain isn’t letting you see the positives and I know that socialising with others has been very difficult for you, but I think you’ve done such a wonderful thing and made a great step for yourself and you should be super proud of yourself! Do you feel able to explain more about what happened to make you feel guilty?

Thanks for reaching out to us. I always appreciate how much courage it must take to reach out.

I can see @Lucy307, @daisyella12, and @Brookee have already provided you with some amazing support.

I just want to check in with you to ask you how are you today? have things improved?

It sounds like your question was allowed so you haven’t done anything wrong! And you have done a wonderful job at trying to get involved in the group. Proud of you! <3

@Lucy307 @daisyella12 @Brookee @Laura_tigger82 Okay yeah it did not affect the group. People are talking again in the group. They are amazing people. I just feel a bit inadequate as they are so amazing. It has nothing to do with them. Just me overthinking.
