CHRISTMAS TIME

Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 6 Confirmed not a robot
Afternoon everyone, thought I would start a light discussion on Christmas more importantly favourite films, what you like to do with friends and family etc. I'll start my favourite Christmas film is The Grinch I watch it every Christmas Eve alongside a hot chocolate with a little drop of Bailey's (after I turned 18 of course!), I enjoy having chocolates and shortbread biscuits as well :) !! I love to go ice skating and visiting Christmas Markets you always find things you wouldn't normally find in an ordinary store!

    Hi @Maligirl

What a great thread. Thanks for initiating this thread. I think a lighthearted discussion about Christmas would be really appreciated in the community at the moment.

I like to watch movies with friends and family at Christmas and eat too much and fall asleep way too early! Favourite films include Polar Express and Nativity (1, 2 & 3).

The Grinch with a hot chocolate sounds great too. *Cough cough* we'll ignore the other part of your drink for now ;)

Pre COVID-19 I also loved Christmas Markets!

I would be excited to hear about what everyone else enjoys the most about Christmas <3

    @Maligirl Hiya!

Thank you so much for starting such a wholesome thread, during such difficult times! I agree @Laura_tigger82 Polar Express and Nativity's are some of my favourite Christmas films to watch, Polar Express particularly makes me feel warm and Christmassy! It used to be a tradition in our house to watch Polar Express every Christmas Eve.

Your tradition of The Grinch and hot chocolate sounds wonderful as well! I agree about Christmas Markets, I think they're such a wonderful thing to go to at Christmas times, I particularly love the little cute handmade Christmas ornaments they sell, before COVID me and my boyfriend used to get a new Christmas ornament from the market every year :)

I also really love to watch A Charlie Brown Christmas, it's just such a wonderful little film. I'm a sucker for cartoons though :)

Aww, yes @Brookee I used to always curl up in my PJs and watch Polar Express with my nan with a nice warm drink :3

In terms of Nativity (1, 2 & 3), I really like it because it makes me laugh and smile! :3

Ahh I think there's a thread for this under the Christmas and New year section of the forum!

@Brookee and @Laura_tigger82 polar express is definitely on our Christmas watch list for Christmas eve!! And wholesomely agree that pre-COVID that the markets were much more enjoyable! I have managed to get to one this year and although it was fun there is so much on a downbeat because of masks etc but I am keeping all fingers and toes crossed for a more "normal" Christmas next year!! (Maybe forward thinking but oh well ;P

Thanks for signposting us @GreenTea :)

Though, I honestly think the more threads we have about Christmas the better =)

I hope you enjoy watching Polar Express @Maligirl. Have you got Christmas PJs to go with that? I hear they are mandatory on Christmas Eve B)

Also, your 'forward thinking' simply sounds like hope to me and we need as much of that as possible. Thanks for sharing your hope with us :3

Not everyone likes Christmas. I've been avoiding the Christmas forum section because it's a difficult time for me..

    Hi @GreenTea

Thanks for letting us know. I am sorry to hear Christmas is difficult for you. Do you want to talk about why Christmas is difficult for you or strategies for making Christmas easier for you?

Unfortunately, this thread is titled "Christmas Time" which highlights the posts are likely to be about Christmas. I can only suggest you ignore such threads. Is there a way you can mute words on here like you can on social media?

I hope you will find posts that are more uplifting and supportive for you. Some I have found that you might like include:

    - Funny memes (https://community.themix.org.uk/discussion/3600048/funny-memes#latest)
    - Word game (https://community.themix.org.uk/discussion/3595284/word-game#latest)
    - What's your favourite comfort tv shows or films? (https://community.themix.org.uk/discussion/3599887/whats-your-favourite-comfort-tv-shows-or-films#latest)

Also, please know we have staff, volunteers, and lots of elf helpers with us over the Christmas period! <3

Ooh! I find that interesting @gia9720 especially as I prefer Spring. What are your favourite things about Winter?

My favourite thing about Spring is that it is usually sunny with blue sky but not too warm so can still wear comfy jumpers :)

@Laura_tigger82 i like winter fashion better - ironically i hate the cold but i love puffer coats, knee high boots , big chunky scarfs and of course the ear muffs <3

Spring is a cool season yeah i get you that its nice because its not as dark all the time but still cool enough to wear some winter fits
