anxious and panic

independent_independent_ Community Champion Posts: 8,614 Legendary Poster
I've had anxiety for many years since I was about 8, it had got better for such a long time like 2 years or so. But now recently I've been feeling so anxious all the time, especially about coming out of lockdown and having to go back to normal and socialise more, but to a degree about most things really.

I have some days when even going to the shops is really hard and seems scary. I've started having panic attacks again and I really struggle to get through them. I have a constant fear that everything will go wrong and that people are judging me. I struggle to reach out for support because I worry that what I say is silly and everyone is judging me for it.

And sometimes I just feel really anxious for no particular reason and with no apparent cause.

I just don't really know what to do I'm just completely lost and yes I'm scared to post this!!

Well done, I know this was probably so hard for you to post, I get it it’s scary and I can say from experience that you can feel silly and stupid for the ways that your feeling but in reality it’s not either of those things! It can be so daunting to reach out and your so brave and strong to be able to, and hopefully by reaching out you’ll be able to find what you need  <3

Coming out of lockdown is definitely something a lot of people I know are anxious about and it’s completely understandable, it’s unknown and the unknown can sometimes be scary but try just taking it day by day, I know it’s easier said than done, but thinking about each day as it comes without trying to look too far into the future is so important especially right know because we don’t know what’s going to happen in the future and our brains can sometimes like to make up the worst scenarios to scare us but everything will work out in the end no matter how long it takes. Just hang on in there and we’ll all get through together! No matter what your facing/dealing with there are always people there for you to speak to and fall back on and hold your hand till you reach where you want to be, so just keep going!  <3

i don’t know if this helped in any way, shape or form but if you going to take anything from this it’s we’re all here for you through anything and at any time. Hope your feeling better soon <3

Thank you @Starlight, that was really good to read and really helpful. I think you're right it's the unknown and like the thought of having to do things which made me anxious before lockdown (socialising in big groups or at big events, going on buses, etc) again that's scary I think. I suppose thinking that 'today I can stay at home and not have to do those things' is what's kinda been helping a little bit.

It means a lot to me that people have actually responded to this and been understanding because I did think it was so silly and scared to post it. So thank you so much :)

Yes @independent_ I totally get that, those are things that also made me anxious before lockdown and I’ve already had to decline on group calls and group chats etc. because they make me sick even thinking about and I think not being forced to socialise in 3ish months makes it seem so much harder. But we’re all in this together and I’m sure you’ll be able to get through this, your one strong, brave, independent (aha) girl and you’ve got this. And you’ve got all of us to cheer you on on the sidelines and hold your hand every step of the way! <3
