“And when they look at you, they won't see everything you've been through. They won't see the **** that turned to scars that began to fade with time. They won't see the heartbreaking things that shook up and changed your entire world. They won't know how many tears you cried or even what it was you were crying about. They won't see how strong you had to be because you had no other choice. What they will see though is how compassionate you are because you experienced pain. What they will see is how kind you are because you experienced how cruel the world is. What they will see is how good you are because you've seen how bad things or people can be. The difference between you and your experiences are who you choose to be, despite everything that could have turned you cold and unkind. You are the good the world needs and the best of us.” ~ Kirsten Corley

Why are they going to let gyms and restaurants already open when they don’t even have a date for people to visit People in care homes

Does anyone else just read their own comment like someone else wrote it thinking you haven’t read this before and read it without taking it in then realise it’s your own comment lol

Ikr and for the people who visit them. It was their only social time. They got to know other visitors and socialised. Now they’re more lonely than ever.

Because care homes are full of vunerable and by opening them up, it might allow infection rates in care homes to rise. It's kinda common sense tbh. A lot of people are still in shielding. They are just trying to protect them.

I get that obviously but lonlieness is a massive killer. If Wear protection then it’s fine. Yet the nurses will go to these GYM so that’s just unsafe in its self.

I know haha. I've spoken to a few people who havr said they wouldn't vist grandparents if homes opened because they basically don't want to spread infection if they have it, on to someone who has less chance of fighting it

How do you know they will go to gyms? Kinda jumping to assumptions there.

It's a little different up here in that visits to care homes are allowed, but it's only one visitor for each person, outside and 2m apart.

I think that's one of the hardest things to open back up because care homes have been so badly affected by Covid, and it'd be horrible to see that happen again if there were to be a second wave. But at the same time, it must be so lonely in there for those people without visitors and that really is sad, and loneliness is a massive problem for a lot of elderly people.

So yeah it's a horrid situation

As a key worker I haven't done anything that can put anyone where I work, at risk tbh.
Gyms open when the term ends. I'm using common sense and using the gym because I'll be out of work because it's the summer holidays.
