Hey everyone,

I've been finding this post incredibly hard to write because The Mix has been a big part of my life for almost four years now. I’m going to be moving on from my role here and starting a new chapter in my life. This won’t be goodbye forever though, we always say in our team that when you leave The Mix, you never really leave. Although I won’t be part of the staff team anymore, I’m going to join our volunteer team and continue helping to moderate chats. So this isn’t a goodbye, it’s a see you soon <3

I feel really lucky to have had the opportunity to work here and I’ve had the best time. I’ve never been in a job where I’ve enjoyed coming in every single day and that’s because of you all. Your bravery and strength inspires me every day and I’ve loved following your journeys and doing my best to support you along the way. You were so welcoming right from the start and instantly made me feel like part of The Mix family. I can’t thank you enough for your kindness. You’ve all been a big part of my life which I’ll never forget.

I’m so proud of our community and where the boards and group chats are right now. We’ve done so many great things over the last few years and some of my highlights have been working on the Young Carers project, creating a new Super Mod role, moving to a new forum and chat software (who remembers the chat ghost?!), starting the weekly challenges, the community newsletters and most importantly listening to your ideas to create new spaces such as the Positivity Corner! Oh and I can’t forget the confetti cannon!

The care and compassion you have for each other is like nothing I’ve seen before. You might not always know it, but each of you have made a huge difference to so many people here and your support really does go a long way. I also want to acknowledge how brave you’ve all been to reach out for support. I’ve always admired your courage and I want you to keep reaching out for help even if it feels scary. I know it can feel difficult sometimes, but please know you’re never alone and this can get better. There will always be someone there to listen and support you through anything you’re going through.

I have to give a shout out to the most amazing team @Mike, @Ed_, @Italia and our volunteers who care so much about you. They’ve been the best team to work with and have taught me so much. I know you’re going to be safe with them running the community and they‘re going to continue doing great work here.

My last day will be on Thursday 28th November so we still have a bit of time before I leave the team officially <3

Keep being brave and fighting through those difficult days. I’m so proud of you all. :)

Maybe somethings don't get better, but we do. We get stronger. We learn to live with our situations as messy and ugly as they are. We fix what we can and we adapt to what we can't. Maybe some of us will never fully be okay, but at least we're here. We're still trying. We're doing the best we can. That's worth celebrating too ❤

    First of all, I can understand that this has been hard to write so well done.  <3

    But omg no this must be a nightmare or an early April fools prank. :( Is it? Out of anyone who I thought would leave I never knew it would be you.

    4 years is a really long time. I would have been 9 years old- way too young for an account on here. 

    At least you are not completely leaving. Thank goodness you are going to be volunteering instead of us never seeing you again and that it is a see you soon. You are incredibly brave to finally write this. I will be hard to forget, won't I? 

    You have always been amazing even if sometimes I think of the mods as annoying people. Thank you for everything you have done.  You are sort of the backbone of the community with everything you have done. You should become a dame (okay okay maybe that is not possible.)

    😪 I don’t do crying but fighting with it, quite literally you’ve supported me so much, you’ve done a lot for me, including with counselling.
    I struggle a lot with opening up, in these struggles you’ve helped me find my voice back.
    You have supported me more than anyone here. You’ve made me feel very safe, I’ve been able to tell you anything.

    Aife, you're gonna be missed dude! You say our bravery and strength you admire, but we wouldn't have that without you! You're such a supportive and caring person and whatever you decide to do next, well they're lucky! You've helped me through some of my darkest times, and with the help of you and the mix I'm starting to see the light again, you are part of the mix family, and I know you'll always be rooting for us, just like we are for you 😊 I suck at goodbyes, but thankfully this is just a 'see you soon', so see you soon!  <3

    Thank you very much everyone! I keep saying this but all of your comments really do mean so much to me. I'm going to always read them back because they are just so nice. Someone reminded me of this Winnie the Pooh quote the other day and it's so true, I really do feel lucky to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard. I'm going to miss you all very much <3

    I'm going to be in Support Chat for the last 10 minutes this evening so we can say 'see you soon' properly. I hope to see a few of you there :).

    @Millie2787 It's been lovely getting to know you too! I'm going to miss seeing Louie photos on the boards, they would always bring a smile to us in the office! Keep raising awareness of Young Carers, you're doing amazing work and the world is very lucky to have a strong advocate like you.

    @Kasa2103 Thank you for your kind words, you'll definitely be hard to forget! Keep being brave Kasa, you're a beautiful and kind person who deserves so much kindness.

    Still can’t belive your going at the end of the week , you was meant to stay with us forever until you grew old and grey ;) .     Awww @Aife your super kind message to me is making me cry. Thank you so much. Please come back on the boards even just as a volunteer! Some final cat photos  (including Lily curled up on my feet.) Joke! That was me pretending to be a cat with the tail (I was 12 years old and that is my face coloured over.)

    Haha @Millie2787 love your thing about "old and grey." I wish that too but not everyone can stay forever (sadly!)
