edited January 2023 in General Chat
Hey Everyone

Here at The Mix we talk a lot about way to distract our self when we struggle. We have set up this playlist challenge as away to think about different songs relating to a theme. After a couple of weeks we will collect all the songs together and put them on a playlist on Spotify and share the link with you so you can all listen to the songs.

For the next few weeks the theme is ...

This could be a song that you listen to as your on your way to school/college/university or even work. As well if there is song you grew up listening to which reminds you of going back to school then feel free to share it.

I'll give you an example, A song which reminds me of going to school is Wake Me Up When September Ends by Green Day

Lets create a brilliant playlist. <3

Update : As this is a new challenge The Mix have decided that we will give out a prize to the person who suggests the song which best fits the theme.

    I love this idea Abi!

A song that that reminds me of school is Send Me On My Way by Rusted Roots. Me and my friend used to always listen to it in the music rooms at lunch time.☺️

    Eminem- lose yourself

I remember before all the soon to be year 11s left my old high school due to closure, we were all being moved to a new school just before we were due to start our GCSEs. So we had an assembly and the head teacher played this song to us, to let us know that we can achieve our dreams and that things can work out.
" And everywhere I am, there you'll be, your love made me make it through, oh I owe so much to you "
" So I say thank you for the music, the songs I'm singing, thanks for all the joy they're bringing, who can live without it, I ask in all honestly what would life be? Without a song or a dance, what are we? So I say thank you for the music, for giving it to me "
    '' It's a beautiful day and I can't stop myself from smiling "

A song that reminds me of college is:

Motivation by Sum 41(which isn't as positive as it sounds might i disclaim 😂)

it's my traveling to college anthem and when i get annoyed 😂

Me and my friends would send each other a link to September by Earth, Wind & Fire every year, without fail, on September 1st. A week later, we'd be back at school =)

One song that reminds me of school is Here Comes The Sun - The Beatles. I also love Dodie Clark's cover of the song. I know back to school is technically the end of summer, but it reminds me of summer days at school where everyone was happy and relaxed and just a really positive memory associated with school

Its so lovely to see you all enjoying the new playlist challenge, its great to see all the songs you guys are suggesting please keep in mind the theme which is 'Back to School'.

On that note as its a new challenge The Mix have decided that we are going to give out a prize to the person who suggests a song which best fits the theme 'Back to School'. I have seen some great suggestions I really have and some songs I will have to go and listen to as well. I have a couple of songs which I think fit the theme perfectly and I will share them when I revel the winner later this month.

We also need a name for this playlist when we share the link with you. Do you want it to be called 'Back to school' or do you have a better name for it? Please share some ideas with me and lets create a brilliant back to school thread.

Keep sharing and the playlist link will come in due course.

Could you call them “pick up playlist “ and then :Education. For this one then then : whatever the next theme, Or pick me up playlist then change the next bit each theme or Or positive playlist

Keep your head up - Ben Howard.
    <3

Used to listen to this every morning waking to school
“And when they look at you, they won't see everything you've been through. They won't see the **** that turned to scars that began to fade with time. They won't see the heartbreaking things that shook up and changed your entire world. They won't know how many tears you cried or even what it was you were crying about. They won't see how strong you had to be because you had no other choice. What they will see though is how compassionate you are because you experienced pain. What they will see is how kind you are because you experienced how cruel the world is. What they will see is how good you are because you've seen how bad things or people can be. The difference between you and your experiences are who you choose to be, despite everything that could have turned you cold and unkind. You are the good the world needs and the best of us.” ~ Kirsten Corley

Some great suggestions here, feeling a lot of nostalgia with some of these songs in particular! Looking to get the first version of this playlist together soon, do we have any suggestions for a name for the playlist? We have 'Pick up Playlist: Education' from @Millie2787 so far. Any other suggestions?

    Hey Everyone,

I though I would come and bump this thread. We will be picking a winner at the end of the month! This person will win a prize and their song will be put on top of the playlist!

@Millie2787 We loved your suggestion for the playlist name! We have used the idea of 'playlist : education'.

We have choice the name - 'Pick me up playlist: studying'. We think this will be searched up more on Spotify.

    Keep sharing <3
