Hey everybody,

It's Mental Health Awareness Week, and here at The Mix, we've been making pledges for how we're going to look after our mental health:

(excuse my bad photography - you don't actually need to read those)

What is your pledge for taking care of your mental health?

It can be big or small. You might want to try and drink more water, or you might want to form healthier relationships with the people in your life who support you. Whatever it is, we'd love to hear it and get our own community pledge wall going. :)

    I'll kick off:

I pledge to try and eat, sleep, and exercise properly to look after my basic needs. :)
All behaviour is a need trying to be met.
    The truth resists simplicity.

I pledge to start trying to put my own needs before those who I care for even if it’s just one day and to try and do a little lit of self care each day.
Sometimes all you need is one person to believe in you , for you to begin to believe in yourself.

To be more mindful of my automatic negative thoughts to challenge them into neutral or maybe positive ones, to be kinder to myself
“And when they look at you, they won't see everything you've been through. They won't see the **** that turned to scars that began to fade with time. They won't see the heartbreaking things that shook up and changed your entire world. They won't know how many tears you cried or even what it was you were crying about. They won't see how strong you had to be because you had no other choice. What they will see though is how compassionate you are because you experienced pain. What they will see is how kind you are because you experienced how cruel the world is. What they will see is how good you are because you've seen how bad things or people can be. The difference between you and your experiences are who you choose to be, despite everything that could have turned you cold and unkind. You are the good the world needs and the best of us.” ~ Kirsten Corley

I don't know if this counts but mine is to be more open about my mental health, everyday this week I've posted something on social media about my mental health and my colleagues have been more understanding with me instead of being confused when I have a flashback or end up in tears 😂 my family and friends have also found it helpful in they can understand it a bit better.

Another is to take all my meds at the right times 😁

Wow all the staff have amazing handwriting. Who actually wrote something as I can't see all the names? Just curious. Oh and your photography is good.

My pledge is to be more open to my counsellor about my worries even if she has to break confidentiality again.

I pledge to get my 8 hours.
Wake up earlier on weekdays so I can get breakfast.
To challenge my brain,  rather than listen be like "okay thank you for the input but I'm gonna go with that"(pretty good at that just keeping it up)
And to try everything that comes my way :)

I pledge to get back to the gym, start eating healthier, talk to those around me when I'm struggling, also to not skip days when taking my anti depressants.

I pledge to walk at least 3 miles a day. If not 4 or even 5.

I want to be more open with my friends and have more time out of lessons if I need to, instead of trying to hold back the tears.

I pledge to not let my anti-social feelings get in the way of spending time with my friends!
