What's your opinion on LaVey Satanism?

Theistic Satanism is the belief in and worship of Satan, Asmodius, Lucifer, whatever name you choose to know him by.

LaVey satanism is more about self indulgence, and self-care. This is the religion I follow.

My view of satanism is that it's not all sacrifices and blood and gore like most people think it is. And there is a specific ritual that I have been meaning to try - The Satanic Destruction Ritual - that is designed to take negative emotions that have been bottled away and literally burn them, while chanting the Ave Satanas chant, which is really meaningful in my opinion.

There is a good description of Satanism and the destruction ritual here - https://medium.com/@allthebigtrees/how-to-perform-a-satanic-destruction-ritual-4c76baf0ea30

It's really quite informative, and explains everything pretty simply.

Also - Fun fact: Satanism is the only religion that directly prohibits rape.
Greater Magic, which is our name for our ritual practice, is basically meant as self-transformational psychodrama. That is it serves as a means to purge oneself of unwanted emotional baggage that might be hindering a daily pursuit of joy in life. - Taken from the Church of Satan website

The 'Ave Satanas' Chant:

"These were things that I held in my hands

These were things that belonged to me

These were things that I held in my heart

These were things that have meaning to me

These things are not dead, because they never carried life

But I gave these things life, because they have carried me

I gave these things my memories

My fear

My secrets

My tears

My blood

My devotion

My hate

My forgiveness

My pain

My pleasure

My love

My disdain

I am the creator of life in these things

For without me, they would not be

And people would seek to profit off what I give

With no mutual heart given back to me

We emancipate ourselves from this material slavery

For without my heart, these things would not be

(Ave Satanas)

We liberate ourselves from this endless cycle

Of voids filled with unnecessary greed

I fill my voids with love and compassion

I fill my voids with clarity

I fill my void with the beauty that surrounds me

I fill my voids with only that which propels me

(Ave Satanas)

Together we raise our arms and unshackle ourselves from the control these things have over us

Together we raise our hammers and daggers, and with them pierce the heart of that control

A power driven by addiction, attachment, consumption, and by a relentless hunger for excess

(Ave Satanas)

I DO NOT BELONG TO THESE THINGS

THESE THINGS BELONG TO ME

I DO NOT BELONG TO THESE THINGS

THESE THINGS BELONG TO ME

I DO NOT BELONG TO THESE THINGS

THESE THINGS BELONG TO ME

I DO NOT BELONG TO THESE THINGS

THESE THINGS BELONG TO ME

I DO NOT BELONG TO THESE THINGS

THESE THINGS BELONG TO ME

I DO NOT BELONG TO THESE THINGS

THESE THINGS BELONG TO ME

I DO NOT BELONG TO THESE THINGS

THESE THINGS BELONG TO ME

I DO NOT BELONG TO THESE THINGS

THESE THINGS BELONG TO ME"

This is how I view satanism, but as I am currently following it as a religion I'm naturally going to be biased.

So what are your opinions on this? I'd like to see what you think.

Sounds like religious narcissistic nonsense, but whatever gets you by.

I have as respect for Satanism as I do for every other religion and fairytale.

Whatever floats your boat, really. My religious faith is the complete opposite of your Satanist religion: Christianity of which I am mighty proud of knowing the Lord Jesus Christ in a personal and loving way. But the chances of ever finding fellowship and agreement between your religion and mine is about as remote as Theresa May winning Strictly Come Dancing.

I know a fair few people who have gone down the Lavey satanism route and it has significantly helped them and made them happy.

I have no Qualms about it or any religion and think everyone should do what makes them happy within reason.

I've spent a fair bit of time researching and around those of many religions and while i have not found one that i personally follow, i respect all and love learning about them :)
