Take the US. The founding fathers of the USA NEVER intended the US to have an interventionist foreign policy. But today the USA has troops in over 100 countries around the world!!
Why?
The primary reason why the US is hated in some parts of the globe is its meddling in the affairs of other nations. It has supported many regimes and recently has reaped what it has sown; it helped build Saddam and watched him invade Kuwait. Al Qaeda may not even be a threat if the US had not sought to intervene in other nations' business.
The solution is evident and simple. The US should remove troops from all of the nations in which they are deployed. Secondly, the USA should only focus on DIRECT threats to its sovereignty.
Keeping the above in mind, why is Blair aiding the US in its interventionism?
If we aggravate the Muslim world any further, doesn't he realise we too could be a target for attacks from extremist groups? It's ill-advised to think otherwise. The UK isn't even a superpower and has NO BUSINESS in attempting to help the US 'police' the globe.
