People are always going to feel most comfortable in the environment they know well.
My background is quite bohemian, liberal and easy going whereas my boyfriends is the kind of - take your shoes off, say grace, have some cake, kind of background. I went for Xmas once and it was the most stressful day ever, then My boyfriend got bollocked cos we dozed off on the sofa. I felt like I was visiting the queen.

However - I know my boyfriend finds going to my mums quite odd cos he can't wander off round the house, fart etc (Although I'm sure she wouldn't mid if he di - fart that is) .

One thing I was doing was looking down on my blokes family a bit because I couldn't understand what made them click. I probably never will properly but I do make the effort not to think they are odd. If they ever came round my mums they'd think she lived in a pit!

    Now that's a scary thought....your parents meeting his/her parents....EEEEKKK!

My parents are fantastic... so far they've got on really well with all my ex's parents. Haowever, this does have drawbacks... still getting invited to familiy dos and having to sit around with someone you've dumped is uncomfortable, plus you worry about offending their family as well by dumping them. Can't really win! <IMG SRC="smile.gif" border="0" ALT="icon">
