...and I WANT A GIRLFRIEND

Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
Here's the issue:
I'm Chinese, but I'm more interested in European girls...which is the problem.

I've had two serious relationships so far; one was with a Chinese girl, and the other one is British. Not racist, but by personal preference, I do like European girls more.

I'm what some people would call a "Banana Boy", yellow on the outside, but white on the inside.

You see from time to time that a British guy will have a Chinese girl as a girlfriend. But how often do you see a British girl going out with a Chinese guy?

You see, there is some sort of race-barrier here, don't you think?

Any comments?

I've never really noticed about people goin out with people from different races.

I have noticed that round here you never see White males and black females, and other than that there doesn't tend to be any mixing where i live. Each to their own is common phrase. Whites go out with whites, etc. it is weird I know, but at the end of the day it is common preference and what people find attrative.

Does this mean UK is less international than I think?

I thought, at this time in human history, we are all closer to each other than any time before.

Look at Bruce Lee for example, he married an American...

No, it just means that we in the UK still like to make a choice about what we find attractive. I personally don't find many black girls attractive and I'm sure they wouldn't like me. I have grown up being used to white girls, as has the majority of people in the UK.

Look-if someone likes you, it doesn't matter what race/colour you are. And preferences can change drastically if you meet someone you really like. For example, I never used to be attracted to black men, then I was and went out with one for a while.
People may say "Oh I only go out with White people" (not meant in a racist way) but it's the same as me saying I like guys with short, dark hair. If I met someone nice who I got on with who had blonde hair, it wouldn't matter!

I know what chatbox means. One of my really good mates is from Hong-Kong, - he's @ bording school here and without thinking of it in an insulting way, girls he like don't tend to go out with him because of that reason.
But there is someone out there for everybody, so u just gotta keep searching Chatbox! <IMG alt="image" SRC="smile.gif" border="0">

I'd out with any race if it was a nice person.

I dunno, it all depends on how you feel. I personally am not attracted to black girls, however there are some who I do like. Generally I am not attracted to them. Only because I don't know many, and there aren't many where I live, so my standards of beauty are mainly based on white, and a few asian girls. But only because I have spent my life surrounded by them.

I would basically go out with anyone that I like...if they like me as well that is.

It's just that, to me, it seems race does matter, especially in UK. My home is in Toronto, Canada, and you see more mix-race couples over there...so as in Sydney.

Is UK, in general, a less 'evolve' country when comparing to others in this matter? (I might have phrased the question a bit wrong, but hope you get what I want to ask...). I used 'evolve' because I think as time go on, people will have less and less race issues.

UIt's not that we're racist, but you still hav to bear in mind that only 4% of the population could be classed as non-white. About 3 million in real numbers with the highest concentrations in the midlands and the south. That includes, Pakistanis, Indians, Africans, Afro-carribeans, Hispanics, Oriental ect. Then you have 57 million whites. It isn't likely that you will see many mixed race couples because, quite frankly there aren't that many ethnic minority people to go out with!
