Skydiving and parachuting?

Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
Has anyone ever been skydiving or parachuting? If so, what was it like? I ask because I'm quite an adventurous person and I like the air (I wish to obtain my Private Pilot's Licence when I can afford it) and I am considering doing one of these two for my 21st birthday in August.

Cheers.

Never done either but would love to do both, think it would be such an adrelaine buzz up there flying in the air.

I was on holidays in spain a few years ago and there was an add for it and i was thinkin of going for it but didnt as it was about 80euro and you had to be 18 which i wasnt at the time. But if i had the chance now i wud go for it.

I think it'd be quite an expensive hobby to keep going over time. Unless you do it once and without a parachute, then you could end up paying fuck all :p

Do what I do, and take up stamp collecting ;)

    Check out www.tandemjump.co.uk

They have a few centres around the UK. Cost about a couple of hundred quid. I'm sure they waive the fee if you raise enough dough.

lmao@stamp collecting. Aye, that is umm... a possibility. :p

Yeah, it would be expensive. Perhaps, then, it can be a one-off thing for my birthday. Just tossing around some ideas.

Ye after your first jump, you can then apply to become a member of the club so the cost of doing the initial jump maybe be 300 pound- if you pay an extra maybe 50 you get membership for a year.

I know a few people that have done one, and Im going to do it for my 21st at the end of next year!

Its something you have to try at leasy I reckon!Dont think about it just do it!

    Any prices on them?
I would much rather do it in the summer after saving up for a while as i think it would cost a bit.

    http://www.skydive.ie/

    http://www.goskydive.ie/tellmemore.htm

The age limit is generally 16- You have to do a morning safety training and landing and then do it late that day.

Most people I know that done it done it for charity- it helped em raise lots ofr charity and they got to jump for more a less free-

    Good luck !

Cheers doctor, had a look on that skydive .ie
Its 320 euro and 60 euro extra if u want video/picture.

Would be very tempted but its a bit expensive.
Would be good to do for charity plus u get to jump for free.:chin:

Parachute jumps are between £100-130, and tandem jumps are between £275-350. Prices obviously vary throughout the country, and most people live quite close to an airfield that does parachuting.

I've always wanted to do a jump, but never got around to it. There always seems to be something better, more worthwhile, or simply essential, to spend my money on.
I swear I will do it one day - and the same for a bungee jump - one day.

    :D Nice one!!!!

I read in my local newspaper that a group of people (10, perhaps) raised over £10,000 for charity by doing a skydive - an impressive amount!
