Interesting story from halfway around the world.

A man from the Jharkhand State in India was found in jain, serving a sentence for a murder committed by his father. It is apparently the tradition in his 'tribe' that a son pays for the sins of their father.

So when the old man died, his son took his place in the defendant's box, and did not declared his identity to the court (his father had died before the trial started). They duly passed a life sentence.

I only hope that our politicians have missed that idea...
