This whole thing smells bad

If you wanted to compile a coalition of anti-terrorist countries Pakistan would not be at the top of your list-to put it mildly.
Pakistan basically bank-rolled the Taliban, and encourages Afghan Arab fighters to move into Indian Kashmir up to the present day.
Apparently in 1998 the Pakistan ISI even introduced Bin Laden to the newly arrived Taliban in an attempt to reopen the Al Quaida training camps in Khost now under Taliban control.
The Pakistanis needed a constant influx of Islamic miliants into Kashmir. But of course none of this will be mentioned because Pakistan has been an important friend of the US for decades.

Basically this whole thing could go down the toilet large-style.
Due to the policies of the right-wing military leaders in Pakistan (with varying degrees of active/passive support by the US) in backing extreme Islamic groups the whole of Afghanistan+ Northern Pakistan is basically one country.
Any attempt by the West to move into Afhanistan/Northern Pakistan could seriously destabilise a regime with nucleur bombs.

I suspect the US will opt for a token bombing of Afghanistan to satisfy supposed public opinion.
Anything more far-reaching poses huge problems for the US and Pakistan.
Bin Laden and his troops will already be in the Pak/Afghan border area along with the more sensible Taliban units. Its the only place where they can guarantee supplies/intelligence/recruits and a well-armed supportive (if there is a US invasion) local population.

No you are wrong, The American public will stop at nothing less than Bin Ladens burning body on a cross! OK maybe not that, but he will have to die.

78% of the American public don't care what the affects are, more terrorism, dead civilians, ect. We just want our revenge. Remeber Japan only killed 2400 of our troops in Pearl Harbor and we nuked them twice!
