Mugging of old people

Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
I am watching the news about a pensioner who was mugged for her bag which had £10 in and she died. Things like that make me so angry. The people who do these crimes are complete scum.

A few years ago I witnessed an old lady being mugged near my house and I knew the lads that did it, so I told the police their names and addresses, I had to make a statement, do an ID parade and I was expected to go to court over it. One of the blokes lived 2 doors away from me, and I was too scared to go to court in the end.

Do these people not have grandparents? It just makes me so upset.

Some people will do anything for an easy £10 to fuel their filthy heroin addictions, except get a job and work for it. The behaviour and mentality of these people is sickening, they deserve nothing better than a slow painful death.

I believe that in cases like this I prefer the Chinese approach, where they are executed, and the relatives billed for the cost of the execution.

Was this the woman in newcastle? I thought she was mugged for her fish and chips..

Very sad and unfortunately whoever did it wont do any jail time for it...They will get off with a few months probation and be free to do it again..

    Welcome to this shitty country.

In an armed society, scum like this wouldn't get very far after committing their crime.

Can you explain to me why dealing with these people after they have committed their crime is a good thing? We need to prevent this kind of thing from happening..

Even in an armed society she would still be dead.

It makes me so angry, I can't believe that some people can be so cruel

It depends how you deal with them. If you shoot them, they won't be able to commit any more crime Since repeat offenders account for most of the serious street crime, they're the one's that must be taken out if the streets are to be made safe.

Mugging someone isn't a one off thing to do. You can bet that this particular piece of scum does this several times a day, every day.

In an armed society, this grandmother may have been able to plant a 9mm slug into his brain. I doubt scum like that would be missed.

In an armed society he would have just shot her and then took the tenner ... or the chips .... or whatever he wanted. Anyway, outcome would've been the same!!!!

maybe - but at least she had the potential to fight back.

additionally - who's to say that if more people were armed, less crime would occur because of the high possibility to get shot?

It works very well in places in the US - New Hampshire, Vermont and Texas (parts) where there is a very high rate of concealed gun ownership, there is less crime.

The guy that killed the old lady deserves to be killed. Plain and simple.

read what Im saying though. in adopting looser gun control laws, one may think twice about commiting such an attack.

I can only say so much for fear Ill get flamed - I will suggest a very unbiased read that may in fact sway the lot of you: "More Guns Less Crime" by John Lott. Read this and you may understand where a lot of us American 'gun nuts' are coming from.

In a society where responsible people are armed, the piece of scum would have been killed at the start of his criminal career.

Criminals already have access to guns, and are willing to use them. I think it's time to turn the tables.

But none of the politicians give a shit. They're chauffered around, can afford to live in the safer areas of town, and the high ranking ones such as that fuck Blair have armed bodyguards.

you know - i cant even recall how I came here - only that it was some time ago.

My whole point is this and I use myself as a case in point. I have been the victim of crime on a few occasions growing up. All of these instances involved someone threatning me with a weapon. In most cases, I surrendered my belongings, some cases I fought back with success and some with less success.

I now carry a firearm at all times and have thus been able to ward off 3 attacks with my firearm since being licensed. All without having to fire a shot.

A criminal's intentions certainly take a turn for a change when staring down the barrel of a 6 inch barrel of a .357 revolver or my .45 automatic. This psychology could be applied in laws that would allow a society to choose to be armed - thus lessening crime.

Its proactive, meaning I alone am responsible for my safety and my actions when I decide to employ the use of the weapon Im carrying.

Self defense is a basic human right - to deny anyone the means is criminal.
