but now im back:p
mmmmmmm.....chips with my chips i always always always always have
GRAVY
mmmmmmmmmm............. chipshop gravy:rolleyes:
When I have Chips, I either have chicken, or jumbo sausage (without batter). Then put plenty of salt and vineger on them, and brown sauce if it's a sausage. I've never liked ketchup. :yuck:
Mr_Wobble
maybe tartare sauce... sometimes.
work in a chipshop, it's great, though i only eat about 1/2 a portion of chips a week cos of it - batterless fish butty and 6 or 7 chips with gravy both nights that i work...
mmm... and SALAD CREAM
You can't go wrong with a battered burger with cheese in the middle. Unfortunately a burger van we used to visit doesn't come out to play anymore
If I'm having a fish supper though it has to be salt, vinegar and brown sauce.
Prefer the cheap brown sauce you get in chip shops instead of HP sauce, the cheap stuff tastes so much better!!:D
So does my mate Dave in my IT lesson!
Question for you missy. I know this is a Scottish thing cause I hear it all the time. What is a chip supper?
A fish supper is fish & chips.
A pie supper is pie & chips.
So by defenition a chip supper is chip & chips????
LMAO
My local chippy is a cunt who doesn't give the right change
Im just boring!!
On Chips?? Wow, thats a new one. Not sure how it would taste but must give it a go.
Quick question people, what do you ask for when you go to the Chip shop for chips.
In Northern Ireland you can go into a chip shop and just ask for "a chip" and you get a portion of chips.
Yet when I tried to do that over in Scotland the lady in the chip shop laughed at me and said "what, you only want one chip son, are you no' hungry or something? sorry we only sell them by the bag...."
So what do you ask for when buying chips?
'chips please!!'
A bag of chips
I rarely get chips on their own though...
A bag or a portion.
patty (sp?) and chips please!!
With loads of salt n vinegar
Gorgeous!
I usually have just salt, because i dont like vinegar and despite having it with just about everything, i dont like ketchup on chips! :eek2:
But thats just me, who has been forced to give up sugar for lent because my friends think i'm becoming dependent ( ) but doesnt like it in coffee or tea or anything!
I just ask for chips. Its when i'm trying to get bread with it I have trouble! Is it a bap, teacake, barmcake etc?!? So many terms for the same thing, and since there are so many dialects round here I have to remember what town i'm in so i dont get weird looks!
In Yorkshire, however, my dad's just started working there, and they call them 'plain teacakes' - wtf? THEY'RE BARMCAKES!!!
When I go in the chippy, I say 'Chips please!' or 'A portion of chips please!"
Yeah, where I`m from it`s just a roll, here it`s a batch. The best one was when the other half came down to Wiltshire and asked for a scallop batch in the chippy. Down there a scallop is a shellfish and a batch... noones heard of that! I dunno what they thought he asked for, but when he got home and unwrapped it all he had was a small piece of cod!!
What the hell is a butter pie??
You mean a roll and chips?
i understand completely. i just phrased it like that cos it was easier to say. but yeah ... a chip supper to me would be chips and chips!!! mmm ... sausage suppers are the best
