ok... well first trick i like is... on that thingy, not the speakers or the picture box thingy, but the other, you press the button, then when it lights up, that means the computer is on. and then you have to press the button on the screan too, so all the pictures show up.

and thats where my knowledge stops...

I can do the basic things like Word, Excel, Publisher etc. I can do some more stuff like basic HTML, mail merges, etc. But beyond that, I'm hopeless.

I'm sure this has been done before in The Net, but who cares.

Aside from the usual shortcuts, there's:

    Windows Key + [L] = Lock workstation*
Windows Key + [Break] = System Properties (Amount of RAM, processor, OS version etc)
Hold shift and click a link to open a new window.

*Not sure, but this may only work on Win 2000/XP?

It's the key with a window on it. If you have an old computer it might not have one.

Awww you remind me of my uncle. He's a complete dummy when it comes to computers. One day I decided to teach him the basics. I was talking him through opening a document when he stopped me and said, "That's all well and good, but how are you moving the little arrow across the screen?" :|

The windows key can be found in between [Ctrl] and [Alt]. It has the windows logo on it, hence the name 'Windows Key' :p

I'd say I'm a half genius, half geek, when it comes to computers. I know just enough to be dangerous. :)
I know bits about most things, a bit of a jack of all trades - but master of none.

I can use the internet, Microsoft Office and Lotus Smart Suite effectively; I can type very quickly; and I can do good HTML. Other than that, I am a dummy.

Call me what you will, but I'm a qualified network admin (done my mcse in network administration and security, and exchange 2000), i passed my first year of uni with flying colours, but found the course boring so i got a job :p. i know my way round unix, and work on an IT helpdesk responding to 500 users and the same amount of computers.
