Still, it should get Byers off the front page. Of course that could mean that this has been leaked on purpose and that it will be declared as a false reading after the Byers things has died down...

Or am I getting too cynical?

    Did you see channel4 news this evening? They did a report on government covering this up. Apparently some people think that the government have known that FMD is still around and has been secretly culling and burning corpses. They had the obligatory madman talking about conspiracy theories but they also had a couple of scientists talking of epidemics etc. Interesting stuff.

    Well, it certainly seems they declared the country FMD free a little early - hardly surprising though under the circumstances: no new cases for months, pressure from farmers and countryside campaigners to declare the countryside officially safe.

    There is one confirmed case up here, and there is a 4 mile area around the farm cordoned off. Let's hope it is a one off - for all our sakes.
