The glorious Iraqi government has recently signed contracts with three oil companies to exploit their oil reserves.

The companies are:

LUC (?) - a Russian Company
CNPC - owned by the Chinese
Total Fina Elf - a French company.

By a strange quirk of coincidence, the three permanent members of the Security Council who oppose the forcoming war are....

Well, see if you can work it out for yourselves. ;)

It might also be a good idea to occupy petrol stations as part of anti-war protests. This would really make an impact if enough people did ie too many for the cops to move on or arrest. It would need to be done carefully with planning such as getting protesters to meet up at a redirection point like a rail station and the organisers keeping thev location a secret till the last minute RTS style then thousands of people invading a petrol station, shuting it down and hanging banners all over it saying "No Blood For Oil" and other such slogans.

.You've completely missed my point haven't you?

    :banghead:

    But thanks for the idea.

I'm now going to arrange a mass boycott of Total, Elf and Fina garages locally in protest at their support for Saddam's regime and their lack of support for armed action...

You could also say that the US is pushing for war because it's being left out...

Which is what is continually being said. The left claim that the only reason the US wants war is so that they control the oil supplies.

Hence this post... gives a little perspective.

Makes you wonder, though, why there isn't a campaign to boycott Total etc when they have signed trade agreements with Saddam. Surely even the left cannot condone this. Yet we hear no outpourings from anyone about this.

Now, if it had been a US company...
