Just watching this now and there is a bit about lycra body suits, remember them, how crap were they?
Did anyone else wear Doc Martens, and thread multicoloured laces through them, with beads and stuff?
Or those army bags, and write the name of bands you like on it in biro?
Or leggings with big baggy jumpers?
And band jumpers, like Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins etc, I had a friend who wore those and she had never even listened to the music. Duh.
This is all more like the early 90's.
And those dummies that were sweets, which people hung around their necks?

They're still around
I was only 2 in 1989, but I do remember most of the things you're saying by seeing it in the 90's. Especially the army bags thing.
Blame Boy George
I was watching I love 1988 yesterday - I was 3 at the time and yet i remembered everything they were talking about...
Omygosh - Challenge Anneka! The shame.
I used to love Challence Annaka and Wack-a-day!!
i was three as well and i remember most of the stuff they were talking about too! especially the teenage mutant ninja turtles, i loved them when i was a lad...
thinking back now i'd love to be the age i am now in the late 80s/early 90s, seemed a lot better then.
And me asking my mom if she was sure he wasn't a girl as the baby-suit he was wearing first time I saw him was purple.
Oooh, oooh. I don't know how the fashion was in Britain, but I remember every "cool kid" owned a pair of Harley Davidson leggings.
And then when I was at hospital (2 or 3 days ago), I saw this little three year old girl with them. Her luck they weren't orange.
oh and hand me down clothes from my sisters
and i wore all those things. oh the shame.
Those lycra body things - ow. The poppers didn't half er...yeah.
My fondest memories are of the very early 80s.
And I still wear my trusty Doc Martens!
I wear my doc martins to Festivals..but those body things..I refused to wear them, they were awful.
people (well moshers) still wear those and their still pointless
Memories of that year? Only "the trip." I remember stopping at a layby on the Pacific Coast Highway and feeding nibbles to these friendly chipmunks. I remember Disneyland. Shit, I went to Disneyland that year. I remember the last ride I went on, the aeroplanes, and I got to drive them with my Mum in the passenger seat, and them going up and down and up and down. I remember TRON being a super cool futuristic movie about computers.
I remember the Turtle's. I remember watching II and III on the video and thinking "what a pointless movie, it's all black, you can't see a thing" because of the light reflecting off the TV.
I remember seeing racoons. Or not seeing racoons. Yes, that's right. At a friends house in NY state and I had to go to bed before the racoons cames out. But I saw photos.
That was fun.
She was a fake :crying: Noooo
I think in 1989 i was still wearing my Fireman Sam jumpers
they're
And don't stereptype.
Pointless - not having a use
Hoodies - keeping people warm, commericailisation of music, but mostly, keeping people warm. = have a use
However, not knowing the difference between their and they're is not a typo.
And most clothes have a point. To say clothing doesn't have a point is in itself pointless.
i love all these remember the year programmes, just wish they werent on so late.
Also, does anyone else thing that the people they have talking about them totally overexaggerate the importance of what happened?
They go way over the top, saying really silly stuff like 'I wanted to be the kids in fame'.
hmm heroin
Thats what I was thinking - they must have the dates of when stuff was first made rather than when it first was popular.
Unless you live in Royston Vasey.
Do you reckon the shellsuit will ever make a come back outside of Northern England?
And yes I worse the doc martens etc... but they didnt have beads in them as I recall it was grolsch tops ( or was that 1988) The Bros era anyway.
Seems wierd some of you saying I was 3 or I was 4:crazyeyes
i was 6 but i wasn't into any of it anyway.
just curious...were you a brosette or a brothers beyond girl? or neither?
random flashbacks to other i 1980s programmes
