What If Iraq Nukes Itself ~~~ Blames It On US?
Let us suppose for a moment that Iraq has enough material to make a small nuke;
that there is no delivary system available to them to use it effectively on their enemy;
but instead trucked it into one of their many semin useless military bases and fired it off on the surface;
followed by an immediate surrender by Iraq to the UN because US nuked them;
with all manner of claims of US agression and pleas for mecry:
That is a big question and not one that is above the mindset of Iraq's leaders.
Were they to do something like that the strategy would probably work...we, US, wouldn't dare fire another shot at them...they hope.
The alternative position of US might to be to just nuke everything there and finish the job...but?

A highly unlikely scenario, but could make a good airport thriller. I might even contact Tom Clancy with the idea and get a cut of the profits.

Another alternative is for the a for CIA hit team to take out Saddam, one shot from behind with a second from say behind a fence by a grassy embankment. Then they could set up some poor unfortunate patsy to take the fall. Except before he can really talk to the police they could get some low level mobster to shoot him in the police station....
