So finally, after seven years, the FA & Govt have finally agreed to let work commence. The new Stadium should be ready for the 2006 FA Cup Final (we'll see :yeees: ) and will be able to accomodate athletics.

But why are the Twin Towers being totally destroyed, and not used in some context, and why £750 million, when other stadia (such as the Millennium in Cardiff) cost a fraction of this..?

One simple reason: rip-off Britian. They do it because they can get away with it. They only need to present a nice animated illustration of what the stadium will look like, declare that it will be 'the best in the world', and architects/building companies can charge the earth for it without anyone questioning a thing. A few sub-contracts later and... presto! £750m budget (and the rest, by the time they finish).
