Right, well I'm not actually entirely sure what the point in this post is at the minute, maybe I'll get there.
Well, I'm currently trying to lose a bit of weight. I've lost almost a stone already, which I'm very proud of, and I feel a lot better in my self for it.
Apparantly, according to that BMI, I am still about a stone above *normal*, whatever the hell normal means.
I guess what I'm after is a bit of reassurance, I dunno. And more information about BMIs I guess.
Like I say, I'm not really sure why I'm posting this, as I am feeling better about myself, and don't feel *un-normal* I guess.

ive lost 2 pounds but i havent been doing it for long. hoping to loose about a stone.
anyone have any idea what the healthy weight of an 18 year old female is meant to be? im 5' 1" and weigh 8stone 3?
I really do though. I doesnt sound like much weight but im only small so its a lot on my body.
Lots of people have commented about my weight because i have 'exploded' since i went on the pill. I'm thinking of changing to another one.
My mum has been buying me things like crackerbread(ew!) instead of bread and things like that because i think she agrees about my weight. she is only 7 and a half herself though!
Tell me about it! My mum made me get measured in marks and spencer at the weekend coz i needed some new bras. the woman said i was a 34D or double D!!! lol
I was in hysterics when she told me I was that size, it sound enormous doesn't it? Porn star size!
LMAO! i know:D
Didn't happen to me though.
On a more serious note, you should maybe see about changing your pill, if its effecting your weight a lot.
And in answer to Sara, it was above that, can't remeber exact, but I kept plugging in different weights to see what would be *normal* and it was about a stone lower than I am now.
A score of 27.1 or 28 is 'overweight', and is thought to predict potential risks such as heart disease, Type II diabetes etc. Dieting would be recommended for overweight people.
Check out this site for an accurate BMI calculator:
http://www.netdoctor.co.uk/health_advice/facts/bodymassindex.htm
"However, even with the grading system, it is still difficult to visualise exactly what a BMI of a certain value actually means and the effect that weight gain has on BMI. Body weight should not be considered in isolation from other factors which affect health. Smoking increases the health risk at any given BMI. Individuals who are overweight with a BMI in the range 25-29.9 may benefit from losing weight if they have other risk factors e.g. smoking, diabetes or hypertension."
Risk factors, which I don't have any of btw.
Answering my own bloody question.
Meh, maybe I just have issues.
on the weight front, i seem quite heavy for my size (im 5ft3 and a size 10) and im nine and three quraters stone, but i read somewhere that muscle is heavier than fat so i think that might be what it is...hopefully.
i noticed that the school skirt i was wearing only 6 weeks ago had a 24 inch waist  i have NO CLUE how the hell i got into it, iv put on so much weight in the hols, mainly cos iv been living off junk im 26 inch waist now, but i cannot be buggered to try and diet and lose any of it, so its all my own fault, again
I was wondering when that was gonna kick in for me too.
*is bored and fed up with her boobs being this size*
Dammit.
Tell me about it! My boobs haven't grown since i've been on the pill (nearly a year now!) although I haven't gained any weight either so guess I been kinda lucky.
Don't freak out about your BMI.
It's just a general indicator. It doesn't take into account things such as muscle tone, or the size of your frame, etc.
If you take the heights and weights of professional athletes and plug them into a BMI calculator (especially sports which require you to build a lot of muscle - American football comes to mind) they will show up as obscenely overweight, despite the fact that these men look like they're carved out of stone.
Body fat percentage is a much better indicator of where you are.
If you are concerned, I would see a physician and ask his or her opinion. They're professionals and can give you straight advice based on many different factors, not just your weight and height.
But its great that you've lost a stone anyway. Just don't be too obcessed with your weight, if you're happy with how you look isn't that enough?
Yups. *curses lucky people who's boobs have gotten bigger* I've been on it 6 months and nothing.
I want bigger boobs and no weight gain.
Body Mass Index is calculated as follows:
Measure your height in metres
Measure your weight in kg
BMI = weight / square of height
20-25 (or 18.5-25 in some sources) is normal, below 20 is underweight, 25-30 is overweight, 30-35 is obese, 35 and above is severely obese.
Remember that everyone is shaped differently so no matte how hard some people try, they won't get below a certain number. From what I've been told, as long as you eat a balanced diet, not too much fat (and only a low proportion of this as saturated fat), drink 2 litres of water a day, and get some exercise, BMI isn't all that important. After all, I reckon someone with BMI of 28 who eats well and exercises, never drinks or smokes, would be healthier than someone with BMI of 20, who smokes 40 a day, drinks heavily, eats junkfood, and never gets any exercise.
And yeah, I'm not that "overweight" that its causing me concern about my health. I guess that really should say it all. I just freaked a little.
But finally I found out that my BMI is 20,02, I guess that's ok.
We had a guy in our education class who had to loose 15 kg if he wanted to stay at the office after the education (when you want to become a civil servant in Bavaria you need to have the right BMI). He changed his diet and lost about 20 kg in 1,5 years).
I think thats tiny!! My girlfriends trousers are a 28 ish ( she is size 8-10) and she don't need to lose any weight (although she seems to fink she does after the hols coz she put a bit)
I don't know.
I found a height/weight thing that tells you your ideal weight. According to this i'm underweight, which is rubbish as i'm healthy.
Wouldn't bother trusting anything apart from your own guesses. If you know your healthy and that you can reach a target weight then shouldn't worry
Well done for losing the weight;)
