Hey everyone

Just posting about MRI's and if anyone has had one what experiences they've had. I am claustrophobic in them but have one for 2 weeks time. How do you overcome anxiety when doing the scan? :hyper:

Any tips would be much appreciated :)

    Hi Sonia

I've had numerous MRI scans and totally feel your pain about the claustrophobia! Usually I take a CD with me which can be played over the sound system, that helps to keep me calm and means I can focus on something other than the noises. My anxiety about scans, however, reached the point where it was better for everyone involved for me to be mildly sedated (throwing up inside an MRI scanner doesn't make you very popular!) and I've found that for me it makes the whole ordeal more bearable.

I would recommend speaking to your GP about it, concern about having MRI scans isn't uncommon so I wouldn't have thought that a mild sedative would be too much of a problem.

Hope it goes as okay as possible *hug*
