We cannot pay you JSA from such and such of date?? HELP!!!!!

Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
Should have looked into this sooner rather than later.

I received a letter in June this year saying

"We cannot pay you Jobseeker's Allowance from 8 December 2014.

We cannot pay you because your entitlement based on Class 1 National Insurance Contributions has run out."

What does this mean?
I've read on the internet that after it runs out, it changes over on to Income-based. How does this work? Does it change over automatically or what?

Have you contacted the job centre on the number specified to ask them further questions/information?

Nope. Might go in on Monday and ask them about it, failing that I'll go to my local CAB.

Contributions based JSA is paid for 6 months. You have to apply for income based, if you didn't do so at the time you applied for JSA.

How do I apply, online or over the phone?

Been searching the net for an answer and it appears that I need a JSA3 form. I'll ring Hull Benefit Centre on Monday and see if I'm correct and if they can send one to me.

You may be able to apply over the phone. You will then be sent the form to check, sign and return.

Got the form on Monday, filled it in and sent it off the same day.

I wasted 15 minutes in the job centre getting the stupid form.

Still waiting for a letter from them about it. Job Centre tomorrow to see Job 'advisor' (Not that he'll advise me much).

Been applying for warehouse/factory work but I don't want to apply for any of it any more. It's shit work.

Now I'm concentrating on Admin, eCommerce and Photography.

What allowance can I get when I'm on Income-based Jobseeker's Allowance and I want to move on to Employment and Support again?

Ah, just been on the gov website. I misread something. Never mind.

I'm guessing that I'll have to tell the job advisor that I may want to go on ESA. And I guess I'll have to fill in the stupid forms in again.

You don't need to tell your job adviser that you're going on to ESA.

That might be true, but since I go to the waste-of-a-time job centre each week, I might as well get a ESA form.

Looks like I don't need a form, I can either ring a number or fill in the middle of my book. I also need a sick note from the docs, so I'll be getting one maybe next week or after I've been to the hospital

Job centre are a waste of time you need the JSA3 . Once the contributions claim expires you've to re apply with the JSA 3. If you want to claim ESA it's done over the phone and then you need to send off sick notes. They'll then contact your Doctor but they don't move quick and can take months till you get a payment.

No point in replying to this thread any more as I'm not going on ESA.

FYI, The job centre or any of its' staff do not contact your GP for anything.

Edit - Had an appointment with the DEA at the job centre this afternoon and the person was quite helpful.

Hey mods, any chance you could close this thread? Thanks.
