So I've left this really late and have a decision to make with a click of a finger.
I'm moving back down south to be with my mum and having the abortion there - my doctor up North has said it could worsen my mental health and I'm a little worried about that?
Has anyone got any experiences to share etc?
Thank you

Sorry to hear you're going through such a difficult time. I don't have any experience myself I'm afraid but Dealing with an abortion might be a good place to start, it has some great advice and support.
As the page states, there are a lot of specialist post-abortion counsellors which all women are encouraged to utilise, but especially if you're worried about existing mental mealth I would encourage you to look into this and find someone/something which works for you.
Take care of yourself most importantly, and reach out whenever you need help.

You should be able to get some counselling in relation to the abortion.
Good luck with whatever you decide.
I don't think that was quite what Sophie was looking for when she posted. She's shown awareness that it could make pre-existing mental illness(es) worse and that is what needs to be considered.
Sophie, have you contacted anyone from Brook? I appreciate that you have time constraints, but try not to rush anything - if you have the time once you've moved back south, talk to a GP there or someone from family planning. Whatever you decide to you, try to make sure you have the support in place to help you to deal with stuff.

Thank you Ella!
I see my old doctor from years ago tomorrow to look at options.
I'm phoning the mental herb team and hoping they can transfer my care down here. But will keep you all posted.

Depending on what you feel your decision will be, it's probably worth asking your GP if there is any support which can be put in place to support you during pregnancy, if you decide against an abortion, as well as input from the CMHT, for instance a family support worker or similar.
