New Year's Craft-alutions

Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
Hello crafty peeps,

Just wondered what your New Year holds in terms of crafts.

Mine -

Knitting
Knit my stash down. Currently have just under 5 miles of yarn! Joined a stashdown group on Ravelry and feeling very motivated.

Sewing
Make various items - knickers, another dress, first quilts etc.
Also... I have signed up for a Clothes Making and Sewing course at college! I am very nervous but very excited about it.

What about everyone else?

I'm going to reach into uncharted territory this year with knitting and start doing some techniques that I haven't tried yet - cabling, intarsia, short rows, and some new stitches I haven't tried yet. I want to get crochet nailed and start on some of the masses of patterns I have for crochet.

I brought a few bits of fabric from Ikea so I'm going to make a dress and a couple of skirts. I'm also going to try a bit of jewellery making - I bought a book last week and there was loads of techniques which gave me a bit of inspiration.

I've got 2 bits of furniture to decoupage and paint. I'm also dying the covers of my new sofa to match the room, or making a huge throw for it. I'm working on making this house into a proper home - getting out all the family photos around the house, getting more art work on the walls and doing anything crafty to A) occupy me when I'm not well enough to do much and B) make the place look really like it's mine. And I need to make some birthday pressies for people.

Does anyone fancy starting a craft swap?

There are huge sections of big craft shops like the unmentionable (hobbiecraft) dedicated to scrap booking, so its very much a craft!

Ooh cool. I have a memory/happy box but wanted to make a book. But I really aint the crafty type. I get bored easily with a lot of things.

I love that yarn. It knits really lovely.

I've gone for fyberspates vivacious. I'm not sure if I'm doing to do one or two colours. I love the idea of a "choose your own" path! Although I imagine that the amount of time I have for knitting will be minimal as we are (hopefully) moving house soon.
