I run a company called Succeed on Purpose. We teach people to find their purpose, and then either start a business on it, or transform their career to do meaningful work.
We are starting a youth program (16-24), and our focus groups said they didn't like being called "youth". So, if you are 16-24, what would you identify with?

Anyway, in answer to your question "youth" makes it seem like you are talking down to them. "Young adults" would be better.

As someone who is no longer a kid (and was never down with them anyway) I was always very happy with young people. Young adults sounds a little older to me, but perhaps that's because my church calls anyone up to 35 a young adult(!)
