How to stop the cat using the sink as her loo

Usually the cats pretty good at using her litter tray, but sometimes she seems to get lazy and uses the bathroom sink. Is there any way of getting her to stop? We have a lot of people in the house so keeping the door shut is difficult as people forget. She's not a young cat but she's also not old so we don't know why she does it.

no, without keeping the door shut, no. You cant explain it to her.
I guess you could put some sort of repellent in the area, but ime, it doesnt work. Best thing is to train the cat to only shit outside

When you see her doing it pick her up and put her in the litter tray. You could try a repellent but it will probably make the bathroom smell. Or just make sure everyone keeps the door shut

Orange essential oil works, but its a dilemma. My cat shits in the bath when its raining outside and thinks his litter tray is dirty. Would rather he didn't, but would rather he did it in the bath than on the living room floor.

Easy, train it to use the toilet instead

Interesting how you said about your cat doing it when it's been raining AR. Also she's now an indoor cat, she went missing for 3 weeks in the summer and by the time we found her she was almost starved to death, since then she's refused to go outside. Might give the orange a go, heard about people using orange peel to keep cats out of their gardens too.
