Knitting problem

Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
I'm knitting a jumper - RICO 141 in creative reflection. I've got to the armhole shaping and it says to work 5 rows in stocking stitch and to decrease 1 st at each end of every row. I'm meant to be left with 80 stitches and instead I've ended up with 88. I've taken those instructions to mean decreasing at the end of each row - should I have been decreasing at the beginning as well? Tis a little confusing!!

Yes, "each end" means at the beginning and the end.

I've redone it, but before I did the decrease I counted the stitches and had 3 more than I should have had. Can I just add 3 more onto everything?

I don't see why not, if you've read ahead and there's not a 4-stitch repeating pattern or something

I would do a decrease in the middle of three of your double decrease rows tbh. Is it plain stockinette or patterned?

It's stocking st the whole way - it's just st st and shaping with the whole thing.

Ah I'd just leave it then.
