Here's the website if you are in England http://england.shelter.org.uk/
And there's also your local council you could go to for help, could be a bit of a wait with them though usually.
Good Luck

I know the M stands for men, but pretty sure they deal with women too, or at least have a section that does.
Sorry to hear that you feel that you need to move away... But this could be a positive step forward in both your lives to start again and move on.
There is an article on theSite called 'I need to move out' which you might find useful - http://thesite.org/homelawandmoney/home/yourplace/ineedtomoveout
In particular it might be a good idea to think about the reason that you both want to move out. For example is it something that will get better with some space? Maybe you could move out for a short while (stay with friends or other family) until things blow over?
Is it an issue that can be resolved through some sort of mediation or family counselling?
The links to the right of the article give you phone numbers of other organisations that give more specialised housing help; for example Shelter as also mentioned by hmmm7.
The council will consider various factors when deciding whether you are homeless and whether they owe you a duty to house you. These include whether you are in priority need, whether you are intentionally homeless and whether you have a local connection.
You might like to check out the links above which are to articles on the Shelter website as well as seeking further advice.
I hope this helps.
I wish it was something that would pass but it wont my dad has been abusive to me from the age of about 5 upwards i have reported him to the police but that makes me more scared as the threats would be endless to what he would do if i told.I just think it would be a good idea to move away and i would love to look after my sister still but she makes it so hard my mum has to do it .My mum knew some of what was going on but yet we still went round there okay she didnt know the extent but shes our mum she should have been able to stop it.
Thanks for the links I will have a look at them
