We all have our favorite government program that appears to be a waste and totally silly. Which one is it?

In Britain, The Dome was a waste of time and money. Basically a giant circus tent erected by the government and filled with exhibitions at a cost of £1bn to celebrate the Millennium...

I think the Dome is up there for pointless wastes of huge sums of money that could be better spent elsewhere.

However i think the program that has and is causeing the most harm to the country is prolly the privitisation of the national infrastuctures and public service's. -> Rail, communication etc etc

Any form of funding for the "arts" that involve little more than flinging shit at walls or erecting a shed with holes in it.

The Cones Hotline. Gotta be the biggest waste of Govt money ever.

    Does anyone else remember it?

NB Not one penny of tax revenue was spent on building the Dome. It is worth remembering that.

As long as I get in the end, and I know that I worked for it, then I'm happy.

Its people on welfare that don't work to get what they do from the government...you just sign up and prove you aren't making a suitable income.

People had got fed up with lines of cones on motorways, with no apparent work taking place. So John Major set up "The Cones Hotline" so that you could ring a report it

Basically, you rang, and then nothing changed. But hey, it may you feel better ;)

The fact that no-one knows of it, and that it isn't running anymore, tells you what a wonderful success it was :)
