Check how many quids left on oyster card online + topping up online?

Hi,

Soon going to London, and I've got an Oystercard from last time. Is there any possibility to see how much there's left on it and/or top up online?

I probably have an unregistered "tourist version" of the card tho (i.e. no name entry in some database), but perhaps it's still possible?

You should be able to check when you put your card on the thing to top it up?

Can you not go on the website and register your card?

If it's unregistered you can't check it online or by telephone AFAIK, but when you touch it against the ticket machine it will show you the balance.

Get it registered and it means if it is stolen you don't lose the money.

You can top up an unregistered card in London once you get here, you can do it at any Oyster Point, TfL ticket office or TfL ticket machine. That may well be cheaper for you if you don't have a UK bank account and bank card; banks charge a fair amount for foreign currency transactions on debit/credit cards.
