During the summer i wont be going abroad, but i would like to take a couple of weekend breaks, or long weekends depending on the distance from SE London and the price of a local room?

I went to Ramsgate/Broadstairs last year, very nice.

A couple of places i had in mind to visit this coming summer were...

Dover

Dorset (looks good there according to google search?)

New Forest (If I can convince the OH to try a nights camping in a tent)

Does anyone have an opinion based on their own time in either of the three areas mentioned or perhaps another suggestion of a good place as i really want to take advantage of finally having a car this summer :d

Cheers

Dover is pretty run down although it does have a castle. There are some lovely beaches in Wales.

As a local I have to agree with the others. Avoid Dover - some lovely scenery and historical sites but the town itself is pretty run down these days.

If you are going to come down though, the Premier Inn isn't too bad.

Torbay is nice. Easy to get to via train or road .... lots of beaches .... Dartmoor on your doorstep ... quite a bit to do in a small'ish area.

No, it's pebble. From memory it gets very deep very quickly there...

Also, as see in Tears for Fears video a few years ago >> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=54IN3URGuM8

Thanks, I love that song, first time seeing the vid though, Ive booked it, thanks for your recommendations.

I booked 5 days in a hotel near Bournemouth beach which itself looks like a lovely place with Poole close by with a Harbour, that may be nice too.

I plan on using it as a base though and seeing the Jurassic Coast, I cant see exactly where on the Map the bit of beach with the arch is but im sure I'll find it.

Theres a Monkey World Zoo thing there which my Son will love so Im sure there will be lots to do and not enough time.
