That way those of us with little brain can contribute rather than trying to remember what was good a week ago.
We do try to keep them in sync but it doesn't always work depending on how many nominations we get and stuff, sometimes we keep nominations open for longer so we keep it a bit flexible
Actually kind of potentially has more use when the 'week' is more flexible as it means less falls through the gaps.
