When betting is 7/4 better than 11/4 and how do you work out what you win for say £5

Ok, higher numbers means you're less likely to win so 7/4 is more likely to win than 11/4 but, if you bet on 11/4 you get more money back than if you bet on 7/4. Im not sure how you work out what you win back though

You can use this calculator to work out the potential winnings.

For a £5 stake at 11/4, your winnings would be:

£5 x 11/4
= £5 x 2.75
= £13.75

Plus your original stake of £5, gives you £18.75.

Its all about fractions/

If you bet £1

On 7/4, 7 divided by 4 = 1.75
1.75 x £1 = £1.75
You get your original stake back, so £1.75+£1 = £2.75

On 11/4, 11 divided by 4 = 2.75
2.75 x £1 = £2.75
Original stake back, £2.75+£1 = £3.75

So you work out the odds by doing the division, times it by the stake, then add the stake again.

7/4 = for every 4 pounds spent on the bet you get 7 back if you win PLUS your original bet. so if you bet £4 at those odds and you won, you'd win £7 plus your bet back = £11

Treat it like a fraction 7/4 = 1 and 3/4 or 1.75

So to work out your winnings froma bet -

Bet x 1.75 + Bet = winnings.

11/4 = 2 and 3/4 or 2.75.

£5 at 7/4 win = £13.75

£5 at 11/4 win = £18.75
