Advantages/disadvantages of using concrete or wood forms when building?

Last year my brother started planning to build his FIRST home and has come a long way with the prints. He hopes to start building in the early spring, but has run into a bit of a predicament.
He had been basically sold on using wood framed forms until our mom came across this blog post(posted below) about all the advantages of using insulated concrete forms. Money is not so much of a worry for my brother, but he is more or less concerned on what the look of the house would be when using the concrete forms.
He was more interested in having a log looking cabin for his house, but building with wood will not last as long when using the wood forms.
