can you get one from anywhere else if your employer hasn't sorted it and you don't really want to speak to them again?

    No, they are the only ones who can give you a P45 (and they should do by law)
    If you cant get one, you will need to fill in a P46 for your new employer.

    Hi Nicebutdim23,

    Purplebutterfly and Kat_B are right. Therefore,if you don't want to speak to your old employer again you will need to ask your new employer to give you a P46. Here are some useful articles to help you get your head around it: Pay As You Earn (PAYE) and PAYE forms: P45, P46, P60, P11D.

    thats a bit of a pain, i dont currently have a new employer. Ive gone back to university.

    does your old employer have an HR department? If so, get in touch with them. If you really want one, I'd just email someone - whatever the reasons are for not wanting to get in touch with them, they do have a requirement to send you a p45 regardless. I assume...
