Heya Everyone!

My names Jane and im 17, thought i better say hi again just in case i get a telling off!

Ive been haveing sex with my b/f for just over 8 months now and we have always used condoms, thing is though i always panic as soon as he has come in case any sperm escapes. None ever has and thats why I was thinking about going on the pill. Thing is im not very good at taking tablets so I dont know wether i could take them.
I just wondered if any of u have/are on the pill and what its like to take?
Also what dos anyone know about the pill that is in the injection form?

If anyone can help please do!

Thanx a lot

Love Jane xx

hi Little Teapot,

i think it makes sense if you're in a long term relationship to use something other than condoms, coz of the stress factor!! im on the pill from my last relationship, and as long as you can remember to take it roughly the same time each day, like less than 12 hours late, you're okay! obviusly its best to take it as close to the same time every day, but you can be anyting up to 12 hrs late without worrying.

and the pills themselves are so tiny, ive lost a couple!! you can even take them without a glass of water they're so small, but with a glass of water and you cant even feel them. i hate taking paracetamol and have to take a massive sip of water before i put the tablet in my mouth or i cant swallow it!

i dont know much about other forms of contraception, like the injection, but im sure someone will be able to help!

If you don't know where you're going, you'll probably end up somewhere else.

i think so too that being in a long term sexual relationship you will be better off going on the pill. there are 2 types but im not sure how each type works so you be better asking before deciding to settle with which one.
even if you're not good at taking tablets, the pill is dead easy! being less than 12 hours late you're ok and they're sooo tiny you can just swallow it raw. they're small to keep in your bag if you have to head out.

the only thing is...they do put some weight on you and can give u mood swings, headahces etc etc etc. and another problems is i heard they can give u breast cancer. i really am not sure about that one so if anyone has any answers for that...set me straight please!
all tablets do have sideeffects...just a matter of what kind and how serious.

im not sure about the injection method...but it doesn't sound too good to me thanx! hehe! hate needles!

don't worry about the pill. i'm on the combined pill and i'm the world's worst medicine swallower ever. it really is so tiny.

i think the other type of pill (is it progesterone only? can't remember) you have to be alot more accurate about the time you take it every day.

as for the cancer thing, it actually protects you from ovarian cancer which is great for me 'cos my family has a long history of it.

go for it!!!

down with the pork and apple combination!!!

yeah i heard about the ovarian cancer thing too. Coz we don't have so many babies in modern society as we used to, u get more periods and apparently, it can be bad for u.

mind u, i have heard bout breast cancer too. I wouldn't go on the pill... merely for the fact that u put on weight. (i worked so hard 2 get it off!)

sounds good tho, part from the risks

Another turning point, a fork stuck in the road. Time grabs you by the wrist, directs you where to go.

you dont put on THAT much weight, and whats best, a few pounds from the pill or loads from having a baby?!?! id much prefer to take the pill and get the side effects than risk getting pregnant, i soooo couldnt cope with a baby right now.

yeah i take the combined pill, but the progesterone only one you DO have to be more accurate in. but thats more suitable for you if you have a family history of heart disease and breast cancer, as the oestrogen in the combined pill can increase the risk of that. but its only a tiny risk of breast cancer, and only if you already have a genetic predisposition to it. oh and smoking increases the risks of these thngs too on the pill.

the pill also helps with spots, when i went on the pill i noticed after a few months that most of my spots had gone, i used to get loads on my back and round my hairline. and it helps with PMT as well, makes it a lot better. i also take 3 packs at a time so i only have 4 periods a year! which has gotta be good. but ask a doc before you do this, i rang up NHS direct as id read about it in several places where docs had said this was okay, and i didnt wanna go and ask my own doc as i had the feeling she'd say i wasnt supposed to, but i know its safe from reading where docs have said stuff about it and how most docs never even have a period at all. apparently they just designed it to make us feel "normal" by having a period every month. id just rather not!!

Like the others have said, the pill is tiny n u can take it on its own n they dont taste too bad niether kinda sweet or was it just mine i dont know i was on microgynon 30 think thats how u spell it anyway.

If u wanna know about the different kinds, u can discuss wiv ur doc which will be better for you, n she will pescribe u one right for you, maybe ur bf would come wiv u seen as u r in a long term relationship so he can understand it wiv you, just an idea anyway.

My gf has the same problem, she gags if she tries to swallow anything, its so bad she has to use calpol if she isnt feeling well!
But she realises how important the pill is, and as it is smaller than a parecetemol she can manage it, but only if no one is looking or it makes her worse lol.

spirit mine's the same one, i think it must be the cheapest they put people on first and if they have probs they change them then! lol ... but yeah it has a sugar coating to make it easier to swallow, it the same with ibuprofen, i have these bright pink pills that look a bit like rounded smarties, mcuh easier to swallow than paracetamol!

I'v read about this and i thought - wow i'm gonna go on the pill! But then i didn't bcoz i heard about breakthrough bleeding where u can just start bleeding, so i didn't know if i cud trust it, and then there's the weight thing....

Do u get breakthrough bleeding GFM?

no i dont

only prob is, how can you tell you're pregnant if you only have a period every 3 months? i spose you have to look out for the other symptoms like weight gain, tiredness, feeling hungry all the time, etc... but im always tired coz i go to bed too late! doh!! just as long as you dont go missing pills or taking anti biotics or throwing up and then having unprotected sex i think.

If you don't know where you're going, you'll probably end up somewhere else.

I am now on my third different pill.

The first was ok (Ovranette)for the first 3 months then it made me depressed and had to go on anti depressants...only mild ones so don't panic.

The second was a combi (Trinordiol) this was ok but it made me put 3 stone on.

Becuase i have PCOS, the Doc then put me on Dianette, which is great, its made me lose weight, got rid of my spots and virtually no side effects.

But everyones needs are different. Have you spoken to the Doctor. I have been on it for a couple of years now. I never trusted it and therefore never let my bf cum up me so to speak, then when i met my new man, i found it hard to tell him how i felt about this, so let him get on with it. and so far i aint pregant and have faith in the pill. I can't tell you about the injection as i've never tried it, but my friend is on it and she hasn't reported any probs as yet.

I know you've already started on the pill, but I thought I'd give you a little info on the injections too in case you have problems with the pill.

It's called Depo-Provera in Canada, but may have a different name in the UK. I've been on it for 6 years now and love it.

It's different from the pill in that it only contains progestins- no estrogen that causes many of the unpleasant and dangerous side effects of the pill.

The reasons I like it are:

Don't have to remember to take it every day, just 4 times a year.

Cheaper than the pill.

Safe to take if you smoke (the pill isn't).

And best of all- no periods! Your menstual cycle stops completely.

There are other good and bad points to it, but I highly reccommend checking it out.

little teapot, im 16 and have been on the pill for about 6 months, i would reccommend it as u dont have to worry about the cum leaking out of the condom etc

hi ya
I'm 14 and I've been on the pill for just over a week now
My bf usually seta an alarm on his phone when I have to take it-it's just become like daily routine
I don't take the combined pill(progesrtrogen and oestrogen) beacuse i have focal migranes -so apparantly it cud cause a stroke-so I'm taking the POP(progestrogen only pill)
it is slightly less effective about 97% and u have to take it at near enough the exact time each day.but me and my bf still use condoms just in case-but it certainly take sthe worry off(I've already had 2 pregnancy scares)there is an injection u can have up your bum which lasts 12 weeks-it sounded pretty good cos it's almost 100% effective-but I'm petrified of injections so I didn't have it
theres also an implant which u can have in your arm-a tube as big as a hair grip wjhich lasts up to 5 years-this sounded a bit to serious to me thogh
whateveer u decide to do good luck
love mexoxooxox

you're having sex with your b/f at 14?
ok, i have nothing against that and you obviously sound like you're being sensible but 14 is young...

it is young, but it's not completly abnormal. i know many of my 14y.o friends are far more ready than me for sex - they know what it involves, the potentials of it etc, and they can balance the risk even at that age.

kathster seems like she's extremely sensible, so nothing wrong with it. on the other hand, u can get some 14y.os who don't know what sex is.

if you dont have a problem why did you mention it?

kathster, thats what i used to do at first, set an alarm on my phone for 11pm when i take mine... although my ex bf's phone was much better coz it had a calendar on it so you could put a comment abuot why you had an alarm set! but it helped at first, i missed a few but i just have to take mine within 12 hrs so it wasnt a disaster. now im used to it, the prob is remembering NOT to take one on my 7 day breaks!

i don't even know what time i'm supposed to take the pill, i just take it whenever i wake up, reasoning that it's within 12 hours of the average time i take it... but as you know, sex hasn't come easy for me, so i doubt i could get pregnant even if i wanted to! (well, i could use a turkey baster i suppose )

It's something unpredictable
But in the end is right
I hope you had the time of your life
