Fancy dress - under the sea

I've been invited to a fancy dress night out with the theme under the sea. I was planning to visit my friend in Cambridge and now she tells me that it's her other friend's birthday so we are going to her do together. It starts at Loch Fyne, the restaurant, not sure where we go on to.

What sort of ideas are there for 'under the sea'. My friend is going as a mermaid, I was thinking maybe mermaid, maybe something else, not sure.

Please help!

    What's gold and under the sea?

    I've just bought a new dress that came today and is black with lots of gold glitter in it. I could get some gold tights to go with it and then be something gold. Only problem is I'm struggling to think of something gold that is under the sea.

    I'm going as "treasure". Just ordered gold coin necklace and earrings from amazon (hideous!) and gold tights (also pretty hideous). And some chocolate coins as well just to have on the night.
