boys...if a very good female friend of yours asked you to come to a christening with her as a huge favour, would you say yes or would you think errr what the hell, no?!
basically one of my closest friends is having her daughter christened on sunday, and i have to go. theres 3 of us who are really good friends and usually i would just go with the other girl but shes on holiday! i dont know anybody else whos going to the christening apart from the childs aunty but she'll be sat with the family etc.
so i'm pretty much going to be sat by myself and i think i'll feel really stupid!
im friends with this guy, he is basically my best male friend and we spend a fair amount of time together, go to the cinema, go out for drinks etc. i was thinking of asking him to come with me but iv not asked him yet as im worried he'll think im asking him to pretend to be my boyfriend, or he'll think 'god no why would i want to go to a christening' but feel like he cant say no.
so errr honest opinions please

If she's one of your closest friends, just bite the bullet and attend, regardless. You're thinking too much about this. So it's a few hours out of your life but, hey, it's for a friend, right?
And I'm male!!!!! :banghead:
i know you are but you hadnt replied at the time of me posting that, of course.
Awwwwwwwwwwww .... but think about it, the man of your dreams may be at the function and if you had a 'boyfriend' in attendance, he may think you are an item and you will never experience true love, happiness and happy forever after.
I was teasin' *hug*
Got a little lol out of me. She terribly wants a male opinion and the first respondent without a vagoo is a fairy
yea, but I agree, go regardless, but ask your mate to come. If he is a good friend I don't think he would think that you only ask you to pretend to be your boyfriend.
thank you, i love this honesty
Why not preempt any thoughts that you're using him as a makeshift male escort, and say something like, 'I know this is going to seem like I'm pretending you're my boyfriend, but I'm really not. I've have taken *girl mate*, but she's away!'. Or if it's a boozy kind of affair, offer to pay for all his beer. That normally works
I'd be fine with going if a close female mate asked me but i suppose it depends on the kind of relationship you have with your guy friend.
Just explain exactly what you've said on here, that you don't want to be a loner, then maybe offer to buy him a pint or something afterwards.
If you're as close as you mention then it shouldnt be an issue at all and its perfectly likely that he wont read into anything more
hey treacle
thank you, hes coming .i promised him a pint and free buffet food and thats all it took really. haha :thumb:
