Very interesting attempt but you need to familiarise yourself with a little quote in the Bible ...throwing pearls before swine ....

Garfield was/is a Muslim anyway. That quote may well have passed him by ... ;)

Explain this miracle then, Maria Forte an ex Miami gang member became so angry with his girlfriend for going to church so much that he gave her an ultimatum:- either stop going to church or I am going to go there and kill you and kill the paster. One night he set out do just that. But he never succeeded in killing anyone. He is now one of America's most famous evangalists.
    Here is his story: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FXwpHktYmQs
I think this is the one of the most convincing pieces of evidence for the existance of God yet.

No its not. That's not evidence. How do you explain Cat Stevens becoming a Muslim then? Many people just need a reason for their existence and believing in a god gives them that purpose.

You obviously didn't watch the video! If you did you would have seen that when that guy went to the church he was unable to get to the door, he was held back by an unseen force. Please watch the video first: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FXwpHktYmQs

Mario Forte had a powerful supernatural experience. His wasn't an ordinary conversion process. What is more the paster inside the church suddenly had knowledge of a murderer coming to enter the church and told people to go to the door to pray to stop that person from entering.

If you watch the whole video which is only 7 minutes long you will see this.

What has watching the video got to do with my question about how Cat Stevens? Look it up and read about how his near-death experience converted him ... to Islam. Christianity and Islam may be monotheistic but they are certainly not the same god. So ... why was Cat Stevens so convinced about Islam over Christianity?

These claims and links that you give us are such tenuous attempts at trying to convince us in the reality of the god you believe in.

Here are some even more famous evangelists for you to consider (look them up if you don't know who they are) : Jim & Tammy Bakker, Jimmy Swaggart, Peter Popoff, Morris Cerullo, Mike Warnke, Robert Tilton, W. V. Grant, Roy Clements, John Paulk, Paul Crouch, Douglas Goodman, Kent Hovind, Ted Haggard, Paul Barnes, Lonnie Latham, Gilbert Deya, Richard Roberts, Earl Paulk, Coy Privette, Thomas Wesley Weeks, Michael Reid, Joe Barron, Todd Bentley and Tony Alamo. These people are so convinced in the same reality of the god that you serve, that they .... erm .... ? D'oh!

You can only take Mario Forte's word on this occurring. I saw a unicorn last night. It was amazing. I felt a rush of something like light stream through my body. I have felt like I am walking on air ever since. Prove me wrong.

    Proof?
Hundreds of prisoners across the UK see the light while in jail.
    It's been happening for years.
There are thousands of these men.
It proves beyond doubt that when a man under these circumstances demands a Bible and some help to study it ...he's after parole.

We all I can say is Cat Stevens must have started looking for God but then fell in with the wrong group. Not all christian churches are right either. As Jesus said "many will come in my name and decieve many". It looks like Cat Stevens has been decieved by the muslims. There is a good little cartoon about Islam.

So that's the best you can come up with? This caring, loving, forgiving, welcoming god allows someone to become so easily deceived with eternal damnation as their reward? How do you know that YOU are not the one being deceived? These 'miracles' that you celebrate in your daily life, being attributed to your god, are no more amazing than people of other faiths (or not) experience in their lives. You still haven't produced any proof to me about my earlier question in another thread : Show me a legitimate, unbiased and impartial medical source where an empty eye socket has been restored to full working order, eyeball and all, or a limb that has regrown after amputation - all attributed to the power of god? Bet you can't. You accept your 'proof of the existence of god' on some story spun by the likes of Mario Forte. But nothing he says is in any way provable. He has had no greater epiphany then a convert might be to Islam, Hinduism etc.

One again, how do you know that YOUR church is right? It's all about interpretation. And you DO have an interpretation. One interpretation you have is that you suggested that the Old testament can almost be considered a book of folklore and fairytale, not to be considered too seriously. You poo-poo'd the story of Jonah and the Whale but even Jesus refers to this in relation to his rising from the dead :

"An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, and no sign will be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah. For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the whale's belly, so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth" (Mt 12:40)

So now, tell me, why would Jesus refer to a story in the Old Testament that he KNOWS to be untrue? He says Jonah 'was' in the belly of the whale. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Sounds pretty emphatic to me.

Jesus constantly refers to the old testament ...he says things like ...didn't you read that ...and then quotes a passage ... so your right about this guy ...he interprets it to suit his comfort zone.
Jesus obviously thought the old testament true and valid.

There's much wisdom in it too ...ahead of it's time ...ahead of the new testament with it's scientific and medical stuff.
It's also been used and still is to this day by archeologists in finding places only ever mentioned in the old testament and thought of as myth until proven correct ...many examples.
This guy is a hypocrite ...Jesus had a lot to say about them too.

You've clearly not exercised an ounce of critical thinking while watching this video. Did your bullshit detector even glimmer when you realised Mario Forte, whose business is religion, happened to have a (completely-fucking-laughable) miracle story in his past? And what's special about Mario and his congregation? Don't you realise that that there are other people praying and still dying every day? I know attempting to debate this with you is a fool's errand, so I'll leave you with one of my favourite quotes from the video:
"the pastor despatched prayer warriors to the front door of the church to pray away the spirit".

Jesus obviously thought the old testament true and valid.
No he didn't he said things like "Let him who is without sin cast the first stone" going totally against Old Testament teachings of the death penalty for breaking any of the ten commandments. He also went against the Jewish Kosher dietry laws saying "God has made this food clean". He was against the eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth teaching in the Old Testament, instead teaching forgiveness and repentence.

By the way the story of Jonah could have been a parable, Jesus him self told many parables to teach people the way.

One of the reasons I think christianity is right is because while religons like Hinduism and Islam shun western culture Christianity embraces it. For example there are even christian raves and rock festivals. See this : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jJNmmldle9g
Christian music also spans every genre from pop to heavy metal to punk and rap.
If Hinduism or Islam are right why do they consider western culture evil?

Because they're different faiths? You do understand that different faiths have different beliefs, right? Because otherwise you are in a RIGHT pickle.

And they don't consider ALL of western culture to be evil. They shun certain aspects of it, like not taking care of your body, and greed. And there are plenty of Muslim rappers, so don't quite get your point about christians making rap music meaning that christianity is right.

Just read that to mysef. Christians have rock festivals, therefore christianity is right. You are seven shades of weird, Goldsword.

Maybe you should read about Islam here: http://www.chick.com/reading/tracts/0042/0042_01.asp

Islam says that it is OK to have four wives that people should be stoned to death for breaking the law, women must cover their heads etc. Hinduism saying you will come back as an animal. I think I can tell quite easily when a religon is wrong.

And like I said not all so called Christian churches are right either. You have the Jehovahs Witnesses, Christian science and the Mormans with many dodgy teachings and beliefs. I suppose you have to use your common sense to decide which religon is right.

With the most respect, Goldsword, I don't give a flying fart what you can find on the internet to cut and paste into the threads here. It's relatively well-known that you can use the internet to find sites, videos, and articles which will back up almost any argument.

And as for your ability to tell when a religion is wrong, I'm sorry you were given that skill instead of the one that tells you that you're fighting a losing battle and nobody on these boards is going to buy your particular brand of rubbish. The fact that there are people like you in the world really gets me down.

If one could indeed swallow the miracle of the story of Jonah as being true, then one might be more inclined to believe the miracle of the resurrection.

So, if Jesus based his resurrection on a story that never happened, his resurrection never happened either. His resurrection story must be a parable too.

But nowhere in the New Testament does Jesus deny the historical accuracy of the Old Testament but does indeed appeal to the Old Testament on numerous occasions as a source of authority.

Nobody is saying that either Islam or Hinduism is any better than Christianity. You're the one drawing all the comparisons, as if Christianity is some proven truth of the existence of the Christian god. You have still yet been unable to produce any PROOF that god exists, and in YOUR case specifically, the god of Christianity. So stop posting obnoxious links to anti-Islamic propaganda and defend your own faith instead, if you can.

By the way, the links that you post to the 'cartoons' are by Chick Publications, who have come under a lot of criticism for numerous inaccuracies and misinterpretation. I would avoid trying to win an argument by using Chick Publications as a reference, if I were you. Use the Bible as your defence, if you feel that strongly about it.

Furthermore, Chick Publications believe in the inerrancy of the Old and New Testament and that every part is true and actually happened (i.e. Adam and Eve, Noah, Jonah etc), so why do you pick them to try and strengthen your case - when you don't believe the Old Testament yourself?

You are tying yourself up in knots here, dude. We find it funny.

You need to study your history, dude.

You assume that the West pioneered their own development, and that the East has been a passive by-stander in the story of progressive world history.

But the rise of the West is heavily based on the developments in the East.

Each major developmental turning point in Europe was informed in large part by the assimilation of Eastern inventions (e.g. ideas, technologies and institutions) which arrived from the more advanced East across the Eastern-led global economy up to around 1800.

Also, the recent construction of European identity after around 1450 led to imperialism, through which Europeans appropriated many Eastern resources such as land, labour and the markets. The West would not be here in this form without building on the achievements of the East.
