Hangover? No such thing,...

Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
at least not for me that is.

No matter how much I drink (it is to note that I drink often and a lot), I acctually never have a hangover. For example: I once went out had roughly 7 pint’s of beers, something like 4 glasses of whiskey, 1-2 cocktails (long island I guess), also I joined in having a bottle of rum and some vodka of course. Hell of a blast, can’t remember shit, was told that I probably messed up a relationship and got into a small brawl and that I threw up on my way home at least twice.

Next morning roughly 10 O’clock (5 hours of sleep), with the exception of bad breath and mussed up hair and the like, I felt pretty much to normal, a bit tired but no headache/nausea.

I’m just wondering if others are in a similar situation or if I should get a check up, maybe something ain’t right.

Cheers,
Jack

I like how you are concerned that you dont get hangovers with that amount of drinking, and not with the amount you actually are drinking.

Maybe you are just lucky, but might be worth exloring it.

    Ah, it's called youth.

In ten years' time, you'll look back and wonder how you ever managed to drink so much and function the next day. By the time you get to my age, bad hangovers can last two days or more.

But G has probably got a point, in that if you're drinking so much that you're getting into fights and fucking up relationships, you might want to ease off a bit.

    how old are you?

back in the day when i was younger, i used to be able to drink loadddsss and went out several times a week, sometimes 3-4 nights in a row.

i now go out on a big night out about ummm, once or twice a month? i can't hack it anymore. my hangovers are really bad and last 1/2 days. i'm getting old :(

i'd be more concerned about how much you are actually drinking to be honest. why are you drinking so much? are you just socialising alot or are you drinking for another reason? if you are getting yourself into trouble when you are under the influence of alcohol, maybe its time you gave up drinking for a bit!

I don't understand how not remembering anything equates to a great night out.
Sounds like a pretty shit one to be honest ...fighting wrecked relationship chucking up.
Sounds like an idiots night out to me but whatever flicks ya switch boy innit.

Well first off, I’m 19 and was just a bit confused since most of my mates do have bad hangovers, drinking as much as I do.

I actually drink every day: No particular reason, I just like a beer or whiskey, in the evening, just as most people drink apple juice, or smoke, or whatever they enjoy having. (Hence no personal/psychological motive or depression, I’m quite content with live as it is corrently ).
I get drunk about 2 times a week. But rather seldom as bad as mentioned in my example, which not at all was a great night out, merely an excess. I just used it to make my point.

Concerning exploring it: Since I know my limits to complete darkness, I really don’t want to end up in a hospital or even worse, in a ditch, while testing them again ;) , so I’ll stay off it.

I just feel a bit uneasy with my liver, I might have a look at it and if everything’s tolerable: no worries. Although thinking about it, real problems with it shouldn't arise in due time, but I would rather be on the safe side.

What do you mean, you might have a look at your liver? How do you plan to do that?!

Well I'll have my knife, and some clean sheets, then I'll plung around in my belly until I find the old rascal  .

I was thinking of a blood sample or what also works for checking is is an ultrasound (Yes its also for liver). Although I'm not about to bet on that. Ill trust the doctor on how to act.

Alright dude, no need to roll your eyes at me!

My point is: I don't expect your GP to be too sympathetic if you walk in and say "hey, so like, I'm not ill or anything and I don't have any symptoms, but I like to get absolutely fucking smashed off my face about twice a week, and now I'm wondering if you could just spend a shit load of NHS cash giving me an unnecessary ultrasound just to put my mind at rest so I can carry on doing that, cheers".

Try it, see how it goes down!

jesus christ, I meant no offense!
Just tried to be witty which obviously went wrong, so please accept my sincere apology or at least acknowledge it. Besides I anyway will have a overall checkup soon, so no need to spend "a shit load of NHS cash" unnecessarly (besides I can't apply to it anyway), so no worries.
I also wouldn't take "" (or some of my statements, for that matter) too seriously, I just thought it better than "^^", to add some humour.

I've never ever had a hangover and I'm now 31. The only difference from the OP is that I don't lose memory over drink. I still get drunk weekly, and to me, getting "drunk" means 6 or 7 pints of beer. I could push to 8 pints but that's a lot less common than 6/7 pints. My main problem with drink is that the older I get, the more often I get ID'd :eek2:

I could never do my 7 pints plus the OP's 4 whiskeys, 2 Long Island Iced Teas and the rest on top. I would be in hospital!

Jack the lAD ...YOU NEED TO BE A BIT MORE SENSIBLE IN YOUR APPROACH TO ALCOHOL MAte oops caps.

It is one of the most dangerous and devastating drugs on the street ...though I'm sure you know that already.
Your young and healthy ...my health is going downhill cos I'm an old git.
You don't value your health til it's suddenly impaired in some way.
Enjoy yourself but please ...be a bit more aware and careful in your approach to your poison of choice.
    Take care.

I never used to get hangovers until i was about 20.
I could go out 3 nights in a row no problem.

Then BOOM. Within a few months that was it. I could go out on a Friday OR a Saturday, but not both.

Then when I hit about 23 I ended up needed 2 days to recover.
When I was 25 I pretty much stopped drinking altogether.

Enjoy it, but the 2 day hangover will catch up with you eventually.

Yeah hangovers sneak up on you. Please promise you'll come back here and let us know what you think of them when you do get them. Then we can say 'Told you so!' and we'll all be very smug or something :d

had my yearly (acctually every two years) check up yesterday, and everything was fine. The doctor seemed a bit confused when I said, that I was a regular drinker of alcohol, since my the values of the liver were just near perfect.
Concerning hangovers she pretty much told me the same, that some of you mentioned, that some people just dont get hangovers, (or was it hardly ever?). (I also forgot to ask why that is though :chin: )

In my experience alcohol is the top dog for killing cells, top poison, impairs cognition, any use at all is just slowly intaking a dangerous poison which causes major health risks, risks to the things you care about, like emotions, cognition, organs, teeth, everything really...

Don't get me wrong, it feels good being wrecked, ever wonder why? the fun takes it's toll and it loses its fun too.. for me anyways
