A great actor and he seemed to have found some peace in recent years. He leaves one hell of a legacy - The best performance in True Romance, pure terror in Blue Velvet, the thankful moment of hilarity in Apocalypse Now, natural and touching in Rumble Fish, his amazing and disturbed turn in Tracks and the other Oscar nodded performance I'll have to track down to watch tonight - Hoosiers.
The man truly straddled the history of modern film making, from Rebel Without A Cause on I don't think anyone else lived out quite so many changes in society.
And he's responsible for three of my favourite movies as a director and actor - Easy Rider, The Last Movie and Colors.
God speed man, whatever Fonda says we all know you were the man that made Easy Rider so damn cool.
