Just as the title states. I went up to edinburgh yesterday to see my friend in hospital...she's doing ok (ish).....in the fact she actually came concious whilst i was there, so that put me in a good mood. Came home, and thought "screw it, i'll eat" ate a banana, peanut butter sarnie and a coupla biscuits...but then made myself throw it back up. :/ it feels wrong to eat, and my doc (yes, ive seen the f*cking doctor) doesn't know why. She wants to put me on some eating clinic thingy, so has anyone been on one and whats it like? :/

I think the eating clinic sounds like a good idea. I've had eating problems, not been to a specialist eating clinic though as my eating problems are part of me personality disorder and I'm already in a PD unit. It sounds as if maybe you are using food and being sick as a way of managing your emotions? Hope you are okay. Hugs.

my experiences of outpatient ED care have not been great but it can be very beneficial to people. do you make yourself sick often? when i was at the ED unit they seemed very focused on people with specific eating disorders and how many boxes you could tick, rather than seeing you as an individual. therapy for eating problems is difficult because it makes you face things you don't want to accept, but if you are prepared for it to be difficult then i would give it a go, if you go and don't like it then you don't have to go back. but it's worth giving it a try :)

Yeah, I am because people were starting to go at me for the cutting, saying that I wasn't being who I am for it, that I'm so much better, and it just makes me feel worse, and to make them happy, i just found that throwing up can cause just as much pain. But when I throw up, its not always because of that reason, I just get this urge to rid myself of all the calories etc.

I do it maybe...once a day..sometimes I do it until I throw up blood, it changes on the day I do it, but not everyday, it depends on how the day it's self has been. I feel really insecure about going to see someone though, even if they are trying to help, but if they are just looking for those "box" people its kinda putting me off a bit.

    Hey bio haz

Glad you've gone to the doctor, feeling insecure about this is completely understandable, as already mentioned you need to be prepared to face some tough issues. I would urge you to go along and check it out for yourself, you never know how it will be, everyone's experience is different.

Good luck with it, let us know what you decide,

    dp

People have eating disorders for different reasons, but the one thing they all have in common is the feeling of control it brings - like cutting. Binge eating and then throwing up can cause serious long-term health issues, so it would be best to get help before you start to damage yourself permanently. There is a much better understanding of eating disorders these days and therapies are much more tailored to the individual. Throwing up to the extent that you are bringing up blood is never a good sign, so be brave and see someone sooner rather than later.
