Is it safe if I put some on 'down there' as I have thrush?

It doesn't. It doesn't say anything about what it's for. I have lost the box.
I looked on Wiki and it said it's for irritation, but not to put on genitals. But why? It doesn't say why..

No. I believe you can buy the stuff you need over the counter at the chemist. It is called Canestan. Just ask the pharmacist.

Hydrocortisone cream is a steroid and can damage the delicate tissue around your "lady bits" . Besides that, it wont treat the yeast infection causing the irritation.

Do you really need a why? It says don't do it... and generally, if a medicane says "DON'T PUT THIS ON YOUR GENITALS" You don't put it on your genitals ;)

    x2

But if you really need a why its cause the "skin" down there is a mucous membrane, which are a lot more sensitive and easily damaged, and once they are damaged, cause more problems.

    uhh...

I should have added "go somewhere private (i.e. a lavatory or your bedroom)" somewhere in the middle

Or, if you refuse to do this, which given the whole refusal to go to the doctors when you thought you might be pregnant debacle, I feel sure you will - you could try natural yoghurt. Never tried it myself, but apparently it helps.

Canesten however definitely helps, can be bought over the counter no questions asked.

Although, it wouldn't hurt to go to the docs, just to verify it is actually thrush

Lyric, I don't mean to be unkind, but does the word "initiative" mean anything to you? Why don't you just go to the chemist and find out. Or Google it.

Well, we can't do anything about that. If you don't get it seen to, it'll get worse.

If you are really that bothered, I bet you could order it online but it might take ages to come. Getting thrush cream is no different from getting paracetamol, condoms, tampons, the pill etc etc etc.

Thrush is just one of those things. I doubt they'll laugh at you or whatever.

I admit I felt awkward buying canesten - but it will make the burning/itching stop - it's worth it. The shop staff didn't bat an eyelid

Depending on just how bad it is, there isn't really any need to fork out all that money for the oral treatment. You can buy the cream for half that http://www.boots.com/en/Canesten-Thrush-Cream-20g_11303/

Pharmacists see far worse every day, they aren't even remotely interested.
